"Re-Watched in the theater 8/2/2016 My face was slapped with a permanent grin when I saw this film would be shown at my local theater for a flashback event. “Akira is without doubt the best animated film ever!
The backdrop is neo-Tokyo after the third WW, where we follow some youngsters who have nothing else to do than ride bikes & and take pills. It's a VERY violent film, as it will knock you to the floor and keep you there. The animation is by far the most fantastic i've ever seen, with excellent coloring.
Of course, like manga, it blows completely out of proportions for an eye-dazzling ending.
