Hands down, the greatest werewolf movie would have to be An American Werewolf in London. It's gory, it's funny and not to mention that it has the BEST werewolf transformation make-up and sequence of any movie in history...don't believe me? Then check it out for yourself.

Dog Soldiers (2002)
Although it is at no.2 I do have to say that this movie is basically tied with An American Werewolf in my mind.Again it's another film that has just the right amount of gore and humor to leave me satisfied. And the Make-up is totally kick ass!

This is a great movie that compares becoming a werewolf with a girls struggle of going through puberty and it is done in such a dark and fun way. Definitely one of the best modern takes on the werewolf genre.

The Company of Wolves (1984)
Not really a horror film but still about werewolves, the main plot centers around the retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and how that story, similar to Ginger Snaps, is a metaphor for a young girl coming into her sexuality. Great mini stories all based around wolves and again great make-up.This also is one of my favorite fairy tale movies.

The Wolf Man (1941)
One of my favorite classic horror films, I don't think it's really possible to love werewolf films without having an appreciation for The Wolf Man.

I LOVE THIS FILM. It is hands down one of my favorite films to watch on Halloween. Much like Creepshow and Tales From the Crypt, it's four smaller stories within the one movie all centered around an adorable little Halloween creature. One of the stories is about werewolves and it's done in such a awesome way that I had to add it to the list.

The Howling (1981)
I've always loved Dee Wallace and this movie is probably my favorite of hers.

Underworld (2003)
I absolutely adore Michael Sheen so when I heard he was going to play a werewolf in these films I ran out and saw them. Overall I find them action packed and enjoyable.
