Movies that I've seen in January.
January 1st, 2017:
Pros:
* Alex Proyas is a misunderstood visionary director.
* The sets are pretty good!
* Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a good actor without portraying the vile Jaime Lanniser, and has reasonable chemistry with Brenton Thwaites.
* Gerard Butler isn't too bad of a villain.
* The story is cliched, but works a little.
Cons:
* Unfortunately, Alex Proyas's attempt to make a movie revolving around Egypt fails with all the CGI and bad acting.
* Barely any compelling acting scenes when tragedy strikes, portraying the film as more of a "cartoony" movie.
* Too much CGI. Plus, the VFX looks as if they were made back in 1990.
* Other actors (Eldoie Yung from Daredevil) don't really play their parts well. No real emotion or overacting.

January 22nd, 2017:
Pros:
* The story was a little predictable but took a pretty good turn in the end.
* Aaron Eckhart isn't so bad as the lead.
Cons:
* There are too many "endings" - it goes from rescuing the kid to being trapped in another world to an Exorcist type of ending to yet another bad ending.
* Jump scares and nothing really frightening.
* Couldn't pay attention due to the unnecessary comic relief.
