Ivan's Childhood (1962)
An astonishing film. Tarkovsky's first feature film about a russian kid working as a "spy" in WWII. Just beautiful. And heartbreaking.

This one was stucked in my watchlist for a long, long time. This is Korine's Dogma 95 film. Herzog acts as the father, "Spud" is Julien, Chloe Sevigny is the sister. Go watch this insanity right now.

Oh. My. God.
Welles addapts a novel Kafka never ended. Is there anything else to say? Oh, yes: Anthony Perkins.

This opening tracking shot is nuts.

I read somewhere that this movie was Herzog's favourite documentary ever, so I had to give it a try and let me tell you:
It's priceless.
These cane toads were taken from Hawaii to Australia and they conquered the land. I don't want to spoil it for you, it's just a tease.

This is one a Linklater's lesser know films. Generation X kids talking and doing nothing with their lifes. It's great, don't miss the chance to watch this.

UbikSpray's rating:

Awesome documentary. The director lives for a some weeks with people that chose to stay out of the light, next to the tracks of the underground railway system. It's about an hour long, but it should last forever. It will stay with you for a long time.

UbikSpray's rating:

Sion Sono's ode to 35 mm film. Blood, gore, amateur film makers, what else can you ask? This is such a mindblowing, beautiful film.
Note: This should be N°5, right after cane toads.

Son of Saul (2015)
What a great piece of art. The camera starts rolling and Saul walks towards it. We got a Close-up from our character, and the camera will stay as close as it can to the face of Saul.
Lots of long tracking shots and a gut-wrenching story about Capos on the concentration camps during WWII.

Hard to Be a God (2013)
First of all:
This is not for everyone, but it's a hell of a film. I couldn´t believe my eyes while I was watching this.
The camera is like a fly, atracted by the dead bodies, the blood, the guts. Some of the characters seem to notice it.

Cemetery Man (1994)
Wow. Didn't spect this. Great make up and art direction. This film is so good I'm considering to rewatch it this year, that ending left me banging my head against the wall.

Carnival of Souls (1962)
The music! The camerawork! This is a masterpiece from wherever you look at it, it's directed flawlessly. First and only Herk Harvey's film. Look up for his filmography on IMDb, you won't believe it.

Antononioni's classic film. I had the chance to watch it remastered in a theatre. Vanessa Redgrave was there too. Breathless.

Darwin's Nightmare (2004) (2005)
Just wow.
Reality is so unfair.
In Lake Victoria people are starving. They have plenty of fish in the Lake, the cradle of human life, but people can't afford it. Don't read anything else than this, please, go, watch it.

Take 1 and Take 2 1/2
This is a weird watch. I really liked it though. I think William Greaves made a beautiful film without even noticing. Or did he?
I don't know what to say about it to make you watch it. This guy, Greaves, is a terrible director! It seems he doesn't know shit about directing actors and crew, but ... well, he says that he want the cameras rolling at all time. That's the best I can do to explain it...
I'm putting the two takes in one space, but take one is better in my opinion.

Lowlife (2017)
One of those new jewels you must watch, future cult films. I left the cinema astonished and euphoric. Kind of Tarantinian. Great script, great characters. Let me give you a tease: A mexican luchador waiting for his child to be born and let his heritage, an organ dealer who runs a fast food store, two former thugs, a junky pregnant woman ... well, enough said.

A Woman Under the Influence (1974)
Gena Rowlands is fucking awesome here. Cassavetes explores the relationship between a mentally ill woman and his wrathful but loving husband.
You gotta love this.

The Vanishing (1988)
This is "SPOORLOOS", not the remake "Tha Vanishing". Although both films were made by the same director, the second is, for what I've read and heard, a bit more commercial and not as HEARTBREAKING as the first one.
A young woman disappers. His boyfriend needs to know what happened to her.

Zama (2017)
Lucrecia Martel's latest film.
Damn. I've seen only two of her films, and there's no doubt she's a fucking genius. Great experience. Go watch it. On the silver screen.

Pálfy is fucking insane. An old lady jumps from the top of a building. I can't remember but it's like 5 or 6 separated stories, all happening in the same building.

UbikSpray's rating:

The Face of Another (1966)
This was the first movie I watched last year. It's a shame I can't remember much of it but I guarantee you it'll drop your jaw. A visually stunning japanese film. A man loses his face, doctor gives him a new one ...

The Room (2003)
Oh, god. This film is so awful it's great. Everybody's talking about it now so I guess I don't need to say anything about it.

This is a good one. 15 year old Brenton Butler is taken to prison because of a murder he didn't commit.

Los cuerpos dóciles (2015)
Cacho is a criminal lawyer in Argentina. This film observes his daily life and follows him around day and night. This is a great one, don't miss the chance to watch it.
