channeling my inner Rod Serling,...Submitted for your approval: Rayna Kapec, a beautiful synthetic humanoid. On an isolated and lonely planet, she is the sole companion of an immortal man named Flint (known throughout the ages as Solomon, DaVinci, Shakespeare and countless others). As Flint's creation and ward, she has been imbued with the sum total of his vast knowledge, drawn from millenniums of life experiences. Yet, despite all of this, she cannot learn elusive things such as "love."
Into this idyllic place comes the landing party from the USS Enterprise, seeking a remedy for a pandemic raging through it's crew. Thrilled and excited to meet other humanoids, she immediately gravitates to the Enterprise's captain, James T. Kirk. Love ensues, but also,...jealousy, for Flint envisioned Rayna as his love interest, to fill a void in his endless existence. The competition for Rayna's affection grows and reaches a fever pitch. Flint demands a choice from her: himself or Kirk? But Rayna's programming was never designed for this encounter! The rush of emotions and conflicting decisions overwhelm Rayna, causing her processor to shut down, effectively causing her to "die." Flint now finds himself facing a newly-discovered mortality in complete loneliness and Kirk returns to the Enterprise an emotionally-broken man.
