Conan the Barbarian - Basil Poledouris
Rousing, epic, and badass, Poledouris' manages to elevate the material to new heights. This was the first time I ever noticed a score and the power it could wield.
Movie Maniac's rating:

The Lord of the Rings: Motion Picture Trilogy Soundtrack... - Howard Shore
A massive and stunning achievement. Themes so fitting of the material that you can relive an entire epic by merely hearing them.
Movie Maniac's rating:

Noah (Music from the Motion Picture) - Clint Mansell, Patti Smith
Something ethereal and epic lives between the notes of these compositions, coiled and ready to strike at the listener. Awe inspiring stuff.
Movie Maniac's rating:

Ravenous: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Damon Albarn
At times whimsical and at others menacing; evocative of the spirit of adventure and the unknown but also that of the darkly sinister, this one is a unique aural journey.
Movie Maniac's rating:

A certain rawness lies in wait in this particular rendition of the famed stage musical. It will move you to tears, it will tug at your psyche and spirit, it will rouse you and leave you broken...it's beautiful.
Movie Maniac's rating:

The Big Lebowski: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack... - Bob Dylan, Captain Beefheart, Elvis Costello, Yma Sumac, Piero Piccioni, Nina Simone, Moondog, The F
An eclectic curation that shouldn't work as wonderfully as it does. Another set of selections that can just as well entertain and please on its own as well as it can take you back to the film it now finds itself symbiotically bound to.
Movie Maniac's rating:

Mostly driven by the over-the-top, surfabilly rock 'n' roll of the band The Red Elvises, this was the impetus for my love of all things rockabilly related. Impossible to hate.
Movie Maniac's rating:

From Dusk Till Dawn (Soundtrack) - Various artists
This seedy, blues rock heavy selection will leave you feeling dirty and delighted in spades.
Movie Maniac's rating:

The Beyond - Fabio Frizzi
Haunting, otherwordly, and unnerving. If hell had a soundtrack, this would be it.
Movie Maniac's rating:

The genius of Claudio Simonetti and Goblin at full display. This score is as much responsible for the movie's particular nightmarish, witchy vibe as anything presented onscreen.
Movie Maniac's rating:

These bad boys are an experience on or off the screen.
