Anne McCaffrey
While often thought of by the casual reader as fantasy, this series is actually science fiction rather than fantasy. While the story does involve fire-breathing dragons, it does not revolve around magic, nor is it a historical/medieval fantasy novel. Rather the major component is science, rather than magic. I have not read much in this series; in fact, I have only read part of the first novel, but it is on my list of series to read.

Foundation - Isaac Asimov
While I own this and the other two books in the original Foundation series, I haven't finished this book. I originally started it back when I was an undergraduate. I was helping move the library at the honors college, and came across this one. I only got to read a part of it, but it was enough to fascinate me. I purchased the trilogy in one volume not a few years ago, and it is still on my long list of series to read.

I am sure this is probably not a classic as the Pern series is, nor as the Issac Asimov works are, but I love the Q character so much, I had to include this novel.

This book is here for the same reason as I, Q. I have it, but haven't gotten to reading it yet.
