Ridiculously Awesome Metal Songs

Song: "The Burning of Rome (Cry for Pompeii)"



You can't get much more ridiculously awesome than this. The Burning of Rome might be the single most badass song Virgin Steele has ever done, pure ass-kicking perfection from the beginning to the very end.

Song: "Don't Wait for Me"



To date the most well known song from this obscure little power metal band - and for a very good reason. Don't Wait for Me has it all: crunching riffs, screaming hot solos with serious balls and some of the most charismatic metal singers of early 90's.

Song: "Bark at the Moon"



People usually think this classic was written by Randy Rhoads, but nope. It was Jake E. Lee, in my opinion one of the most underrated metal guitarists of all time. This beast of a song alone should make the dude immortal.

Song: "When Death Calls"



Beautiful, beautiful song. I seriously do not understand why people underestimate Tony Martin era Sabbath so frigging much. In my opinion the band has never been musically better than this.

Song: "Beyond the Realms of Death"



No-brainer. Very few metal songs have ever come close to this level of mastery.

Song: "Raunioilla"



This song made me a fan. So ridiculously epic and awesome. The title means "in the ruins" and the lyrics are about destruction of paganic gods.

Song. "Hallowed Be Thy Name"



One of the single greatest metal songs ever made, hands down.

Song: "Children of the Earth"



I remember listening to this exact super melodic song about million times over and over when I found it decades ago. These guys were on the top of their game when they made this thing, everything just clicks.

Song: "Tornado of Souls"



You could pick any song from this killer album, it's all ridiculously awesome.

Song: "Warrior"



Speed metal from the late 70's? Oh yes, these guys were years ahead of their time. Even though Rock City isn't that great of an album, Warrior is still my favorite song from the band, a true timeless classic if there ever was one.

Song: "Take This Torch"



Speed metal, you say? It doesn't get much more energetic, empowering and insane as this. Trust me, it's awesome.

Song: "Sleepless Nights"



The single best song King has ever made. The stellar guitarwork alone kicks some serious ass.

Song: "In Nomine Satanas"



Oh yes, this is EVIL!

Song: "Davidian"



Never liked Machine Head, but this song SHREDS!

Song: "Oh My Fucking God"



One of the craziest songs Devin Townsend has ever produced. And that's saying something.

Song: "Medieval Steel"



A very obscure little gem from the States. Old-school epic US power metal at it's finest. The singer even sounds like Geddy Lee!

Song: "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Morgue)"



This is one of the masterpieces you could pick any frigging song from. Chainsaw Charlie is as ridiculously awesome as it possibly can get, but it also has the most over the top lyrics of them all. Blackie even produced newer version of this album just to tone them down.

Song: "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion"



The best thing Nightwish has ever done. The latter half just screams awesomeness, it's such epic song they have always had serious problems trying to play it live nearly as well as they did in the studio.

Song: "Am I Evil?"



Another no-brainer. This song alone is a stuff of legends and should be heard by everyone on this planet.

Song: "Turn the Cross Upside Down"



Pretty harmless by our standards, but man is it catchy and fun!

Song: "Take Hold of the Flame"



This band has way too many awesome songs to pick from. I'll take this one, just for the killer live performance I put above. Back in the days Geoff Tate was one of the most talented metal singers in the world, and it really shows.

Song: "Life in Bondage"



It's all ridiculously awesome. Just get the album, it kicks some serious ass!

Song: "Cleanse the Bloodlines"



My pick for the best metal song of 2017. Love the lyrics.

Song: "Pull the Plug"



A true death metal classic.

Song: "Badlands"



Another gem from the late 80's. This album is the peak of their career, at least musically. The songwriting here is so damn good.

Song: "Red Rum"



The biggest mistake these guys ever made was creating a debut album so ridiculously awesome that no matter what they tried, they could never match it. Love you to pieces is true creme de la creme when it comes to classic 80's heavy metal.

Song: "Necropolis"



Quite probably their most well known song. It certainly has its faults, but I worship it just for the epic middle part.

Song: "Chasing the Storm"



This album really shouldn't be this enjoyable. I mean, even the cover has every evil cliche imaginable, but you can literally hear the bands crazy enthusiasm and attitude through their playing, and that alone makes the music feel much more than what it actually is.

Song: "Save the Skull"



I just can't help it. This song and album are equally ridiculously awesome, no matter what other people say. This type of insane speed metal madness is just my niche.

Song: "Never-ending Fire"



Yes, it's about some magic sword and stuff, but man is it awesome melodic power metal song to listen to. The cover art alone makes my day.

Song: "Metal Merchants"



There's no speed metal band like Hallow's Eve. They could make the simplest of musical ideas sound ridiculously awesome.

Song: "The Red Rose"



This is one of the most enjoyably cheesy power metal songs/bands/albums I have ever heard in my entire life. It's so laughably terrible it's actually both ridiculously awesome and just plain ridiculous at the same time.

Song: "The Blind Leader"



So you like some crazy guitar-heavy metal music with lots of soloing? Well, my niggas, here's something ridiculously awesome for you.

Song: "Port Royal"



Port Royal has everything: it's both super fun sing-a-long song and just ridiculously awesome metal at the same time. The video is epic!

Song: "Sankarit"



These girls were seriously awesome, if also extremely underrated back in the days. Their style is more mix of heavy metal and old-school goth rock influences. A great band nevertheless.
