Ok...so I recently watched this movie on Netflix, waiting to be genuinely scared and impressed. Well, that didn't happen. I was bored nearly the entire time, and felt like turning it off in the middle. For whatever reason, I kept watching, and I don't see what the hype is all about.

Fight Club (1999)
I already didn't like Edward Norton, and this movie made it worse. It's not really a bad movie, but it's not really that good either. I'm angry that Norton got so much attention after this movie.
Hobbit's rating:
Even with all the internet backlash, this is still one of the most overrated movies of all time. In fact, before it was cool to say this movie was the "worst thing EVER", many people who give it negative reviews now, were boasting about how awesome this movie was, how great the visuals were...etc...
Chicago (2002)
This won the Oscar for best picture, beating out The Two Towers and many other superior films. That's what pisses me off the most about the movie. It is not that great, and the only song I liked was the Cell Block Tango.
Hobbit's rating:
Clash of the Titans (1981)
This is a "classic" for some reason. There's crappy animation, bad acting, and the characters suck. Plus, you have to stare at Harry Hamlin's pube-covered chest for two hours, the only good thing about this movie was Laurence Olivier
Halloween (1978)
Another so-called "classic". I don't really have many bad things to say about this movie, other than the fact that I thought the remake was better. I didn't like that Michael Myers had no motivation for his killings, or that he was so obnoxiously strong (which was a problem in the remake as well). To be honest, it just was not that great.
This movie is so stupid that I'm surprised it has so many sequels. Just some generic slasher that moved kind of slowly if I remember correctly. And the big scare at the end wasn't even scary.
Hobbit's rating:
Another one that suffered major backlash, but it's still considered to be a "great romance" in many circles. I can't be the only one who thinks that a star-crossed romance has absolutely no place being set during one of the worst freak-accidents in history.
Grease (1978)
Dear god, I have no words that can describe how much I hate this movie, but I'll try:
The "kids" are mostly played by 30 year olds (the worst being Rizzo, played by a 33 year old Stockard Channing), the songs weren't that great, and the story had been done about a million times before.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)
I've always hated this movie, literally always. I just don't get the hype. I like Judy Garland well enough, but she was sixteen, playing a character who was supposed to be between the ages of 9 to 13, and that freaks me out. Plus, there were the ridiculous musical numbers, the unrealistic tornado, and the terrifying flying monkeys.
Hobbit's rating:
I've already established that this is my least favorite Harry Potter movie. The reason it is on this list is that people keep singling it out as the best one. I do not get it. The trio's acting was at its worst, especially Daniel's, there scenes that went nowhere and didn't advance the plot an any way (like the "something wicked this way comes" choir performance, which would have worked if it wasn't the focus of a better scene for two minutes), and there's how disappointing the Shrieking Shack scene was (it didn't really explain why Snape knew where the shack was if I remember correctly). It also managed to be way too lighthearted in some parts, which mad the dramatic scenes feel out of place and forced. Overall, this movie is horrible, and doesn't deserve all the hype.
Hobbit's rating:
I love Romeo and Juliet, and this movie just completely slaughtered it.
This ruined Claire Danes for me, I've never been able to enjoy anything else starring her since I watched this. But, that's not even what makes this overrated to me, what makes it overrated is the unholy amount of praise it receives. It is incredibly risky to "modernize" Shakespeare, and only a few movies have done it right. This is not one of those movies. Also, if you're going to set a movie in the 90's, you should make the characters sound like they live in the 90's.
