Vision Thing - The Sisters of Mercy

Eldritch injected a large dose of hard rock on Vision Thing, it’s cheesy as hell, but in a pretty enjoyable way. ‘More’ in particular is up there with some the best tracks from Floodland.

Naked City - Naked City, John Zorn

I’m slowly coming to the realisation that my tastes are actually probably pretty conservative, case in point Naked City’s Elephant rape Grindcore inspired freak outs bore the shit out of me, but the more conventional atmospheric pieces like Chinatown, Saigon Pickup and Contempt are infinitely more interesting…

Too Dark Park - Skinny Puppy

Nature’s Revenge is f*cking amazing, an Icily atmospheric Industrial tour de force…and then there’s, well pretty much everything else. Too Dark Park is often cited as Skinny Puppy’s masterpiece but for me it’s frankly all a tad monotonous, Ogre’s vocals are very much an acquired taste too.

The Good Son - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

After going through a big Nick Cave phase in the 2000s I’m pretty hot and cold on his stuff nowadays. His voice tends to grate on me something rotten, especially if its limitations are exposed by a lack of energy in the music and minimal instrumentation (ballads basically) The Good Son is probably the worst culprit of this that Iv’e heard, though it does include ‘The Weeping Song’ a rare shining gem amongst all the tuneless warbling.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Original Soundtrack

A very early addition to my collection… a couple of years before I actually cared about music. Clearly crazy about Ninja Turtles though, just like practically every other kid back in the early nineties. For the most part this is pretty dreadful stuff, just not my cup of tea at all…though have to admit that Partners in Kryme’s Turtle Power (a number one hit single here in the UK) does give me a large dose of childhood nostalgia but overall though for me the atmospheric composition ‘Shredder's Suite’ is the only thing worth listening to here.
