While I didn't die laughing like some of my peers told me I would, there were funny moments in this film. Danny McBride stole just about every scene in this for me.

-REWATCH-
I could watch this film once a month and still love it! I mean, really what isn't there to enjoy about this film?

Pacific Rim (2013)
Loved it! This is how you blow shit up using mechs, Michael Bay! Take notes, take notes.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Much better than the first entry, sadly though, it adds to the Marvel cannon very little, but still manages to be enjoyable.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Vacancy 2: The First Cut (2009)
I honestly didn't think that the first Vancancy was great enough to make it to nationwide release, but now we get this direct-to-DVD-cash-in-sequel. Trust Mr. Lays, you are missing nothing at all by passing on this film.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Killer Joe (2000)
Did I ever enjoy this film! Creepy and it maybe hard to watch for some, but if you can get past the overall subject matter, you might be able to eat a piece of fried chicken again.
Mr. Lays's rating:

While this isn't the financial failure and horrible mess that others would have you believe, this film did have(in my opinion) some good things (and terrible) going for it. Overall, the film is very loosely based on the Max Brooks' novel of the same name. I would have liked to see the film take the narrative of the novel. Sadly, the film rests alone on Pitt's shoulders. It's mediocre.
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Last King of Scotland (2007)
Simply amazing acting and directing! Forrest gives the performance of a lifetime! I am only upset at how long it took me to watch this film.
Mr. Lays's rating:

This is just one of those staight to DVD films. So don't expect much. While some of the acting is strong, it won't be memorable.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Can it be that Michael "Blow Everything UP" Bay actually made a film with less than two explosions? Yeah, it happened. Also, this is actually a good film. It reminds me of some of the commentary overheard on a GTA title. I enjoyed it and I believe that many of you too.
Mr. Lays's rating:

World's Greatest Dad (2010)
I loved this film! Williams gives an amazing performance!
Mr. Lays's rating:

Lawless (2012)
Personally, I think that I wanted to enjoy this film because of the period. The 1930's are some of my favourite times to read about. Constantly. Overall, Lawless isn't a terrible film, just very forgettable, sadly.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Men in Black II (2002)
Will Smith is the "King of Summer flicks" for a reason. Good old fashioned popcorn fun.
Mr. Lays's rating:

I had plenty of fun watching this film, it reminded me of Brick. Something has run a muck in the school and a writer for the school's paper is going to track down what happened. High school is more than just Glee and High School Musicals, it is a little more like Heathers. I would love to see more of these smart films with twisting story lines. Excellent.
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Tall Man (2012)
Many years I have given Jessica Beil flack about just being another pretty face, but with this film was I ever proven wrong. I enjoyed this film immensely. Beil gives an excellence performance. Give this film a Redbox rental if you get the chance. Although, about mid way through the film you realize what is going to happen. Dwelling on about her husband gives it away.
Mr. Lays's rating:

After searching around on Listal, I had no idea that this film was a sequel. Anyways, this is one of the best cop/crime films that I have ever watched. And no, I do not over-speak when I say that. American cop drama films dream about being this well made.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Snitch (2013)
The Rock is fucking amazing. This guy just might be able to do anything. He is superhuman without question. Excellent film.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Parker (2013)
This isn't a terrible film, but it falls right into Satham's comfort zone. If you enjoy many of his films, this will be to your enjoyment as well...
um, forgive me ladies, but this is the best image from Parker:

Skyfall (2012)
Pure cinematic fun! I never really wasn't into the 007 films, but Daniel Craig is awesome.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Seven Psychopaths (2012)
Such a well written film. If I ever get around to completing my first script, this is the kind of film that I would write. Sam Rockwell steals the show again.
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Man with the Iron Fists (2012)
As a fan of almost all things Wu-Tang Clan related, classic kung fu Shaw Bros. flicks and just overall having a good time a the theater, this film comes as a huge letdown, in my opinion. It just doesn't have a personality. A saving grace is that the soundtrack is amazing, though.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Episode VI: It's a Trap (2011)
Not as good as the other films, but I had a few laughs.

-REWATCH-
I just viewed this on Blu ray, and let remind High Definition purists out there that this is an inferior product. The film looks awful. (As far as HD films can be transferred.) Be very cautious about which Blu ray version you purchase.
Now as far the film goes: simply amazing! It still is plenty of fun to watch.

Mr. Lays's rating:

An interesting film to view, without question, but I feel that I may have been affected by the "over-hype" crowd. It feels average. The script is strong and the performances are well done. I still am on the fence about the glamorization of our nation's "silent warriors'", though.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Tropic Thunder (2008)
-REWATCH-
Call it a remake of the classic Three Amigos all you want, I love this film. It has consistant laughs throughout and Tom Cruise stealing the show as Les Goldman. I love it!

Watchmen (2009)
-REWATCH-
This is the granddaddy of Comic book films, in my opinion. It is just so goddamed ambitious and pays attention to such little details that it is truly jaw dropping at times. I have been a fan of Zack Synder's work for a long time and I hope that he can continue his excellent work for the upcoming Man of Steel film.

Mr. Lays's rating:

Granted, this isn't nearly as great as the two pervious installments, this film has it's moments. Overall, the whole Vatican conspiracy could have been left out, in my opinion.
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Godfather: Part II (1974)
Every bit as good as the original. I am just upset how long it took me to get around to watching this.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Wow, just wow. The news has been a war with the public for a long time. This is just the tip of the preverbal iceberg, sadly.
Mr. Lays's rating:

This is a fun gangster flick that will keep you entertained for about a hour and a half. If you do not mind all of the British idioms and Terrance Stamp screaming like a madman, this is recommend.
Mr. Lays's rating:

What an amazing film! The dynamics between all of the character just work exceptionally. Such strong performances make this one of my recent new found favourites. Highly recommended and comes with the Mr. Lays guarantee that if you don't like this film I will refund you.*
*Hell no, I will not!

Ted (2012)
People who know me know that I am a huge Family Guy and American Dad fan. So when I found out that Seth McFarland was directing a film, I was elated. But alas, that excitement turned into sadness, Ted is very much a by the book comedy. Shame, really.
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Bourne Legacy (2012)
What a disappointment! This film simply rests on the laurels of The Bourne Ultimatum, and I mean that in more than name alone. The last of the program and the final fight between the two assassins was reduced to a lame ExciteBike chase. Unfortunate, because I like Jeremy Riner as an actor.
Mr. Lays's rating:

I do not understand: Here we have a beautiful woman who runs around in tight leather killing zombies, and (somehow) it still fails to be entertaining.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Typically, I do not watch these kind of films because I am huge softee, but I managed to make through this film without something "falling in my eye." Overall, a great film. I loved it.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Edge of Darkness (2010)
I know that I just slammed Man on a Ledge, but I liked Edge of Darkness. Sure, it has the plot of a Law & Order episode, but it also has Mel Gibson. He makes you feel his characters pain and actually made me be very empathic towards him.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Man on a Ledge (2012)
Just jump off of the fucking ledge already! This is about as run-of-the-mil as you can make a big budget film. It reminds me of a made for TV film for some reason. Sam Worthington also, if you must know, does his odd head shaking routine again. You know what I am talking about! This:

Now go and watch some of his other films and you will notice it from now on.
