Movies my daughter watched - 2013

Re-watch - Jan. 1st, 30th

Normally we don't let my daughter watch more than 2 hours of TV/movies in one day. However, the first was of course a holiday, plus it was cold outside & my "wife" wasn't feeling well. All of which added up to us letting her watch a little more than usual on this day. Clearly she wasn't done with Christmas yet, as she wanted to watch 3 Christmas specials in a row.

This was her 2nd time watching this one, which is why it didn't show up on her list for last year. And we only agreed to this one thinking that it was shorter than it actually is. Wish I could comment further, but both times she's watched this I've had other stuff to do.

My "wife" wanted to watch a movie as a family, so we chose this one. As you can tell by how quickly she re-watched it, my daughter loved it.

She wanted something new today, so we gave this one a try. We weren't very impressed, though she did enjoy moments of it.

She started pre-school on Jan. 4th, so this was actually a perfect choice to watch before she went since Nemo's tale begins with his first day of school. It also allowed me to get some things done around the house before I had to feed her & take her there. ;)

Re-watch - Jan. 5th, 9th (with my parents), Dec. 7th

Christmas strikes again. Funny enough, the 5th was the day the Christmas tree & decorations came down, and the 1st time she watched Elf was the day the tree & decorations went up.

At this point I'm hoping the absence of Christmas decorations around the house will lead to her moving on, as I'm already over it.

Last year we found a Little Golden Book version of "Presto" super cheap & bought it for her without actually reading it. If I'd thought about it I would have decided against buying it, considering "Presto" largely relies on physical humor that just does NOT translate into a book. The book is pretty terrible as a result, but inexplicably she loves it. So I figured she needed to see the short that spawned it (in hopes she'll like the book a little less, though probably it'll have the opposite effect heh) & she liked it so much she replayed it a couple times after watching it.

Chosen again when there were things to do around the house so neither mom nor I could watch it with her. Ah well.

I think she actually wanted to watch the 2nd one, but when I asked which Toy Story movie she wanted she picked this one instead. Then about an hour into it she started throwing a fit to watch the 2nd one. Since it was a rainy, cold day, I told her she had to finish this one & then she could watch the 2nd after we ate lunch.

She spent the 25th sick, which led us to keep Netflix up & running watching movies & whatnot while she rested on the couch. We started off the movies with this one, which she seemed to enjoy. I'd intended to watch it with her but wound up doing other things around the house instead of sitting through it all.

This popped up as a suggestion at the end of FernGully & she said she wanted to watch "the turtle movie" so I put it on while I worked. Which means I paid no attention to this one.

As further proof this one's not for kids, her interest in Rango was fleeting throughout. She was also occasionally scared by it, though not as bad as a couple other films I know she's watched. Still, she managed to make it through the ending even though she didn't really enjoy it. I was just thankful to have something a little different on for her to watch.

On our way to rent movies she kept saying she wanted to watch "the panda movie" and this was what I figured she meant. Had no interest in this one myself, but while she was watching it I caught bits & pieces of it (I was doing chores) and wishing I had watched it with her. So maybe I'll buy a copy "for her" mainly so I can watch it if I see it cheap somewhere. She asked me a few times to turn it off & only finished it thanks to my encouraging her so I don't think it went over too well. Seemed like a film aimed at older kids though, so maybe that'll change in time.

Mommy put this on for her after trying a couple other movies that the kiddo decided she didn't want to watch. I don't know all the details as I was working at the time.

Well, she got our money's worth out of the rental by watching it every day we had it in our possession. We first saw this together last year in the theatre, and she talked about watching it again so often that I knew I'd have to get a hold of it once it hit DVD. Its release was also smartly timed as the film's events take place in the run up to Easter, and this was released a couple weeks before the holiday. Anyway, it looks like we'll have to add this one to our collection in the near future.
