Horror movies I survived (more or less)

Two couples spend their holidays in Mexico, Amy and her best friend Stacy with their boyfriends. They meet Mathias, a german who misses his brother, who went to an expidition to some ruins and is lost since then. They decide to look for him and get trapped there...

They cant get away from there, since Amy touched the plants on the hill, Mayans showed up and threaten to kill them if they try to get away. Unfortunately, they cant communicate with the Mayans.
After some hours they discover why they shouldnt leave the hill - the plants wont let them!
(sounds much like science fiction, but it isnt!)

The movie is very disgusting and thrilling, but you should watch it! I survived it and watched it about 5 times ;)
It's based on the book by Scott Smith, the book is great as well, even more into detail with their private thoughts...

I watched it two times, one time years ago and another time lately again...

I must say my first impression was better :)
So it is respectable but nothing special. It has some annoying actors (or rather the characters).
The plot is interesting but it could have been better presented.

Doctor Cox from Scrubs acts in it, its hard to see him as someone else :)



So 11 people end up in a motel and then they die...!

This is really scary!
The one and only movie I shrieked unvoluntarily :D

A family moves into a haunted house (the basis of many horror stories, I know). During their stay, the father changes steadily until he almost attacks his own family. The story which happened before they moved in the house seems to repeat itself...

An asian original!

But it wasn't good anyways... The story was fine but it wasn't scary at all. Maybe I should watch the remake ;)

I was stupid and watched it when I was alone at home -.-
But it was good!
Not too terrible, but thrilling :)

I already mentioned it in the list recommendable movies because it's really good!

The cast is nice, the plot aswell (originally asian..)

Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman try to catch a serial killer, who murders people that suffered from a dead sin as he kills them with their sins. By the time they almost got him, he changes the rules - and adds them into this game...
- Veeery good end!

Yeah well, what can I say? You all might now the plot behind every Final Destination movie.
One person sees an accident happen to him/herself and others before it actually happens, so they stop it. From this moment, they die orderly like they would have died in the accident - but more cruel!
Some time the protagonist realises what happens and tries to stop it again...

Way too disgusting for me, a real splatter movie!

What seemed so promising turned out to be extremely boring! My friend and I tried to watch it and managed about a quarter of an hour, til then nothing had happened. Okay, something was bound to happen but that took to long and stuff. I cant describe it, but it was bad, believe me!

Okay, that one was good.
My friend told me about it month before I watched it, she said she had seen it and some days later they did a class trip to caves and she refused to enter because of this movie. (but I have to add that she was younger and stuff..)

Sarah loses her family in one dramatic car accident. Some time later, her friends invite her to do a cave trip and she accepts, thats the kind of thing she had always done before and that made her happy. Of course, they get stuck, the leader lied to them about the hole, it was a one undiscovered til then. What began as an adventure turned out to be a horror trip, they discover some creatures which are perfectly adapted to this environment - and hungry.



It was thrilling, but survivable ;)

From a psychatrist to a psycho.
Thats what happens to Dr. Miranda Grey. On a normal day on the way home, she sees a girl standing near a bridge. She gets out of her car and tries to help the girl who suddenly brusts into flames. The next morning she wakes up in the mental asylum she used to work within, being told to be mad herself. They tell her she killed her husband but she cant remember it at all. Since then the most insane things happen to her while she tries to get back her memory.



Very good movie in my opinion. You really want to now what had happened. And it's thrilling, but in a good way :)

I watched it in the early afternoon with a friend and it wasn't sooo scary, but hours later I had trouble falling to sleep ^^



Low budget production, but that makes it even more realistic...

Katie has been haunted for years, it doesn't matter if she changes her living area. The "thing" finds her everywhere.
Now she lives in a giant house with her boyfriend Micah, who's somehow believing her. He brings up the idea of documenting every moment of their live to see (and proof) whether paranormal activities appear or not.
Of course they do.
It starts rather unremarkable but it's getting worse every night. Katie wants to apply to a professional but he says he couldn't help because it's not human. They should go to an exorcist but he doesn't have any time so they are left to their "fate". But despite all this trouble, Micah stays with Katie (unless he doesn't stick to her "rules" and upsets the demon even more).

My father began the movie when Desperate Housewives was on, so I said I'd rather watch the movie later but when I came to say 'good night', I stayed and watched the rest with him.

I love watching horror movies with my dad, I feel safer than with my friends ;)

It also speaks for the movie that I stayed. The scenery was interesting and new to me (elevator..)


So there were five people trapt in an elevator, (one was already dead when I joined). The technique who was expected to help them was frivolous on the way and -of course- he fall down and died, too.

The whole movie (as far as I understood and the title points at it, too) is about the devil, haha.
No, I mean one person is possesed by the devil.

In this elevator, the electricity fails from time to time and everytime this happens, the light is out, you hear scary sounds and when it's bright again, someone is dead.
There is a camera in the elevator and a police troop is observing them to sort out what happens (and to help them, of course).

Don't want to say anything more, I liked the movie and I recommend it :)

So they had great conditions for this film, but failed to use them to their fullest.

Hmmm... Let's say the movie was funny.
Yeah, scary is something else, isn't it, Kami-chan?



It was interesting nevertheless, especially the one scene where Johnny talks to his ex-wife on the phone ;)

I watched this movie with my ex-boyfriend and madame Kami-chan and we enjoyed it a lot (at least I did).



Complete mindfuck, scary in the very moment but lateron you can't really say this scared you to death.
Maybe it would have been more terrible if we hadn't made fun of it while watching it ;)

Jeepers Creepers is about the siblings Trish and Darry, who want to drive home (or somewhere else?) but see some strange accidents happening and by that become the victims of the creature themselves.

It was creepy and disgusting but not that good...

Very similar to the first movie, this time it's a school trip which stops at the "Jeepers Creepers Road"...

Strange movie... Mindfuck, but it didn't seem to be meant as mindfuck, you know what I mean?
Stange scenes and plot, several WTF-moments..

Maybe I'm not made for original asian movies ;)

There was a stupid overnight party at a friends house and when we all got bored, we turned on the TV and Urban Legends was on. We enjoyed it very much because it is so ridiculous.
The plot is actually kinda nice, making all the killer-legends come true...

After having so much fun with the first movie, we decided to watch the second movie aswell!
It was just as ridiculous as the first one ;)

"Based on a true story"



This movie is actually more a survival movie, but some scenes, which were pretty disgusting, qualified it as "horror" to me.

It is about the exploration of a giant cave with its many veins never touched by any human before. Frank is the leader of the team, he brought his son Josh whom he inherited the passion for caves. The adventure soon gets dangerous - heavy rain is starting to fall...

A group of friends (with a pair of twins) drives to visit a big football game, which they never reach due to various circumstances...

Very nauseating and disturbing.
Sure, you can laugh about catching each other looking away or closing your eyes when you're with a friend, but if I'd watched the movie alone, I would have died.
It contains the crulest of all tortures I've seen so far in a movie...

The residents of a small town in Alaska face a month of complete darkness (which expains the title).
Shortly after the last sunset, mysterious and gruesome things start to happen... A group of vampires came to eliminate the town, allay their thirst for blood.
