Good Films Stuck at 7 Point Something.....

Michael Clayton is a film about corrupt law firm and how a fix it agent of the corrupt system outdone himself and exposes everybody.



It is solely a Tom Wilkinson film. He is outstanding as Arthur Edens. George Clooney as Michael Clayton is spectacular as usual. All in all Michael Clayton is a satisfying crime drama from the house of Tony Gilroy.

VERY GOOD

The year was 2003. Two pirate films released on that same year riding on piles of budget but to distinctly different fate. While Pirates of Caribbean received all the love at the box office and at the fan's hearts Master & Commander lost all the grounds. But to be honest I found it pretty enjoyable.



Being a big fan of Russel Crowe it was really easy for me to sink into the story which was really great.
Perhaps the non existing commercial elements and the occasional slow pace could be a turn off but still for the naval story lovers it is treat to watch.

VERY GOOD

Let's start with the 2004 airport comedy as I put it. Steven Spielberg with an comedy starring Tom hanks as an unacceptable , that itself is so mouth watering. I enjoyed the flick as Tom Hanks was in his usual best and the story was different and funny to begin with. But every thing changed once Catherine zeta Jones makes an entry. She is pretty but awful in acting department and the chemistry between the lead pair was nothing to write about.



The end also dragged a bit. However I found it good enough to secure 7 / 10 just on the merit of Tom Hank's incredibly brilliant acting, wish he had greater support from the script and co actors.

GOOD

An entire film shot with one character that too within a coffin.. sounds interesting. Yes off course for a short film but for a full length commercial.. wait a minute. That's exactly how I reacted when I first heard of it. No wonder it sank without a trace in US box office.



But it's pity that people missed it. It's a Gem. It does not have the explosive action scenes but still it has the chilling sequences inside the damn coffin.
Ryan Raymolds gave his best as Paul Conroy. The real time film is among my favourites of 2010. Go watch it if you want a real cinematic experience.

VERY GOOD

It's an out an out Johnny Depp film and he delivers such an impeccable performance that even the consistent Christian Bale looked stoned beside him. The cast is too good. Depp + Cortilard + Bale + Billy Crudup plus the ever so good direction of Mann and end product is bound to be great.



There is a moment in the film which is my absolute favourite. Dillinger goes to this police station in a disguise and watches all the photographs before stopping to his own on the wanted list. Then comes the killing grin. I am a big Johnny depp fan and to me this is one of the best film from the master and probably the last film in last few years where he was just too good. Alas Christian bale did not look the part which really surprises me being the great actor he is. The narration is good but seemed a little uneven to me. It's a very good film none the less, much better than the rating shows at least.

VERY GOOD

Again a Steven Spielberg creation doodling in the 7 pointer zone. The film is really a great adventure ride with it's futuristic sci Fi set up and emotional run down of a robot. Once again a spirited performance by Haley Joel Osment and some ably supported cameo by Jude law and others.



A robot on a quest to become a boy so as to be embraced by his human mother presents a poignant premise. But once again the end drags beyond any point. The story could have been shorter by at least a good 15 minutes.
However still it's one of my favourites just because of the Sci Fi Pinaccio touch to the story.

GOOD

It's an absolute favourite to me. It's a combination of an amazing story, superb acting and a very ably handed ending. Seriously Rosamund Pike never looked so beautiful and Paul Giamatti is excellent as Berny. Ably supported by Dustin Hoffman it's a story of an imperfect live of us men who keep falling in love by mistake and keep doing the mistakes to lose our love. Guys who fell in love with someone else on your wedding night can borrow some idea for berney :-p



A delightful cinematography adds enough spices to an already rich dish. It's my favourite love drama from 2010. Only wish the jokes were little more subtle and the direction were a little more inventive.

VERY GOOD

It's quite a funny story indeed with some impeccable performances. Like I really liked Zach Galifianakis in a funny yet dignified avatar. The story is decent and there are moments which really touch my heart.



The set up has a striking similarity with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but still the director handles the story well enough. I was really surprised with the outcome as I did not expect much from it.

GOOD

We bought a zoo is a surprising film I must say. Normally I don't miss any film of Matt Damon as he keeps surprising me even with obscure small films. Here he teams up with Cameroon Crowe and brings us a real time fantasy.....literally.



We bought a zoo is an emotional journey of a widower who closes the gap with his children through a Zoo that he buys. It's a happy go lucky kind of story and it works very well. It should not be missed if you want to enjoy something along with your family.

GOOD

Syriana is a very good political thriller that tries to look into the corruption in oil contract in the south east. But what really sets it apart is the interesting neutral point of view.



George Clooney just rocks and truly deserved the Oscar. It's a good film that really impressed me with the interesting story.

GOOD

I always have a soft spot for the political thrillers. It often presents us an intriguing premise to work on. George Clooney uses that brilliantly in Ides of March if not as an Actor then surely as a Director.



The casting is mouth watering. Ryan Gosling is impressive and Philip Seymour Hoffman stands out with a superlative performance. All in all The Ides of March is a satisfying viewing experience.

VERY GOOD

The Debt is a spy thriller that is dark and timid. It's basically a story of 3 spies who are on a dangerous mission in Barlin and the Mystery around them unfolded slowly as the film progressed.



It's a very good spy thriller. The twist was really good and the story is engrossing. With an able cast the film really worked for me. It does not really qualify for this list but since I liked it so much so an exception needed to be made.

GOOD

I am a die hard George Clooney fan. He brings in so much glamour into the table that his characters reflect so much charisma. The Descendants is a fulfilling drama consisting some griping performances.



To me the real surprise package was Shailene Woodley as Alexandra King. She was really very good. So it is an very good effort from Alexander Payne.

VERY GOOD

Scott frank has given us some pretty cool films as a writer so when he turns director with The Look Out the expectations were little up and he delivered on the promise. The look out is drama-thriller centred around a janitor who works at a bank with some accidental disability and how he becomes tangled in some heist.



Joseph Gordon Levitt is a revelation in the author backed role ably supported by a decent cast. I love the film for the treatment Frank has used for the film. In spite of the fact that the story is predictable the final outcome is pretty enjoyable.

GOOD

Is it a good movie? "Definitely, Maybe...I have to think about it".
The dialect from the 2008 romantic comedy starring Ryan Raynolds, Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Banks the elegant Rachel Weisz and not to forget Abigail Breslin keeps fumbling on the lines of the titles. One moment it's very very good and the very second moment it follows the painfully silly clichés of a ROMCOM.
Ryan is top notch performance wise and as a Dad of a super smart kiddo and the rest of the cast fills in quite well. The story looses it's grip on certain points just for the sake of being different I guess.



Still it's very heart warming journey of a man who searches for his love his whole life and finally gets to it through the stories he narrates to his daughter. It's a happy watch.

GOOD

It's a perfect example of a very good film being let down by an equally lame and uninspiring ending. The film started with a bang and then Kevin spacey and Samuel L Jackson was just too good with their dual. But the mystery thriller lacked the shock value and in the end we get something much lesser than the sum of it's part.



However despite it's flaw I just loved it. The acting was awesome story was decent enough to hold you for a rough 2 hour and the pace is apt for the genre it caters to.

GOOD

The first thing this film reminds me of is that of the Red rose amidst the black & white world. The story is funny and also has it's heart in the right place. The cinematography is awesome and the characters are really charming. The treatment keeps the idea simple.



Our modern advancement corrupts the simplicity in our life and the way the film captures it is really praise worthy.
All in all it worth's every single popcorn and besides providing ample chance of worming our heart.

VERY GOOD

This Vietnam war film is about the survival of Dieter Dengler an German - American pilot in a Vietnam Prison. It's a real showcase of Christian Bale's talent. He again crosses all line with dedication.



It's raw, realistic and honest. The story based on a real life incident is really remarkable. A very good film none the less.

VERY GOOD

Frank Derabont had a spell of 2 great films and all of a sudden he is vanished. Certainly it is not among his best works but still it is a thought provoking saga of human vulnerability under desperate situation.



Again based upon a stephen King novel The Mist explores the apocalyptic conditions and how that can corrupt human mind. The ending is a master stroke, I seriously did not see that coming. The SFX was ordinary to say the least and the acting was nothing much to talk about. To me it is a pretty average offering from the master director of Frank Derabont.

GOOD

It's a real shame how such a great actor limits himself into the boundary of mediocrity. I love Robin Williams, I feel he is one of the best actors of his generation. Alas the same can not be said for his films. Most of them are just average to say the least. But Good Morning Vietnam is really good adventure. Again Robin Williams is too good in the role of a RJ and his comic timings are just so good.



It's a real good try of touching the serious Vietnam issue with a comic view point. I liked the idea and eventually I did enjoy the film. It's hilarious to say the least without being raunchy.

GOOD

Nicolas Cage can act and that is not the head line. He can be irritating and lame at times but there are films where he really did well. Matchstick Men is certainly one of them. This is in fact one of the best film directed by Ridley Scott.



The con acts are so so but the final con really steals the show. Sam Rockwell rocks as usual and Alison Lohman is really cute as a teenager. In a nut shell Matchstick Men is a good con film and Nicolas Cage deserves praise for the good work for a change.

GOOD

It's a surprising Romantic comedy sans the usual Clichés. The film starts on a fairly familiar subject and bends it's way towards something different than we normally see in these teen romances. I loved the acting and the story is the real king.



It's and obscure little gem once again which should not be missed. It's among my favourite romantic comedies.

VERY GOOD

The Adjustment Bureau is a fitting Sci Fi which dwells on unfamiliar territories with the story and I guess people hate it for that. I loved it though. I was nicely taken aback at the twist at the very beginning and I started taking it real seriously.



The best thing about the film is the gripping chemistry between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. They looked world together and that really worked for me.
The story is innovative and confusing at times and the end seemed hurried but still its a decently good film and I enjoyed it.

GOOD

This is my favourite Tom Cruise film and again an inclusion of a Cameroon Crowe offering. For a change Tom Cruise did look the part and he carried the film on his shoulder all along. It's a predictable dark horse wins the race story all right but the parallel tracks worked fine.



I loved this film for the emotional scenes it depicted. I loved it for Tom Cruise and Renée Zellweger, they looked great together, I liked the film for Cameroon Crowe, his direction is flawless at times.

GOOD

It's a cute love story starring the dashing John Cusack. Again it's an honest offering from Cameroon Crowe. I like his films for being so simple yet touching. They may seem melodramatic at times but I guess my Indian gene permits me to absorb certain level of melodrama on screen.



The story is really good as it has some depth and layers.
It's a well written, directed and acted film something that is so uncommon for a romantic comedy.
I loved this film and surely this is one of my favourite romantic comedies of all time. Really surprised to see the film in this list.

VERY GOOD

I am Sam has every clichés that a Jessie Nelson film usually have, but the film is solely saved by the incredibly brilliant acting by Sean Penn. Contrary to popular belief I truly believe that he was great as an adult with a 7 year mind. I can watch it again again just to watch him .



Besides him the film is pretty average. The end is predictable and there are moments in it which clearly indicate the dilemma of maker.
