Far Cry - PC Games
Released by Crytek in 2004.
Crytek is based in Frankfurt, Germany, and was founded in 1999 by three Turkish brothers. Thanks to their huge success with Far Cry and Crysis, they have expanded with four new design studios; Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria and England.

Sacred - PC Games
Released by Ascaron in 2004.
Ascaron is based in Gütersloh, Germany, with a development studio in Aachen, Germany. In April 2009, it has gone into bankruptcy protection, mostly in part due to large debt it incurred during the lengthy and delayed developed of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.
Gothic II - PC Games
Released by Piranha Bytes in 2002.
Piranha Bytes is a game developer based in Ruhrgebiet, Germany, that had only worked on the Gothic series, but after their split from Austrian-based publisher JoWood, Piranha Bytes has announced a new game title 'Risen'.
The Settlers IV - PC Games
Released by Blue Byte Software in 2001.
Developer Blue Byte is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and since 2001, is a fully owned subsidiary of French gaming giant Ubisoft. They have many titles on their portfolia, but 'The Settlers' is the series they are best known for.
X3: Reunion - PC Games
Released by Egosoft in 2005.
German developer Egosoft was founded in 1988 and is based in Würselen, Germany. They began with several titles for the Amiga, and Imperium Romanum for the PC in 1996, but they scored a big hit with 'X: Beyond the Frontier' in 1999, a space combat / empire building / trading game. Since then, their full resources have been on working on sequels to X, with rumor of a long term goal of an online X Universe release, yet to be announced.
Secret Files: Tunguska - PC Games
Released by Fusionsphere Systems in 2006.
Fusionsphere is based in Aichach, Germany. It is a small development studio, but its adventure game 'Secret Files: Tunguska' was been critically applauded and helped keep the Adventure genre going, at least in Europe. They have since ported the game to Wii and DS, and have released a sequel.
Anno 1602 A.D. - PC Games
Released by Sunflowers in 1998.
Sunflowers Interactive was founded in 1993 in Heusenstamm, Germany. They were best know for their ANNO series (1602, 1503, and 1701), but have since been acquired by French powerhouse 'Ubisoft'. Ubisoft has kept the series alive with another German developer, Related Designs, who released ANNO 1404.

Released by Replay Studios in 2009.
Replay Studios is an independent game developer based in Hamburg, Germany, founded in 2002, to create games for 7th gen consoles.

Based in Bremen, Germany, House of Tales prides itself as being the leading German developer for Adventure point 'n' click gaming.
Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive - PC Games
Released by Spellbound in 2001.
Spellbound Entertainment was founded in 1994 in Kehl, Germany. They first got notice with their Airline Tycoon release, but most of their work has been on the Desperados series, including Desperadoes 2 and Helldorado.
Jack Keane - PC Games

DECK13 Interactive is based in Frankfurt, Germany. They are best know for their adventure games - the Ankh series, and Jack Keane. They are currently developing an upcoming third-person action adventure 'Venetica'.
Dawn of Discovery / Anno 1404 - PC Games
Released by Related Designs in 2009.
After Ubisoft acquired Sunflowers, the latest installment of the ANNO series was given to another german-based studio, 'Related Designs', which has its headquarters in Mainz, Germany.
Simon the Sorcerer: Chaos Happens - PC Games
Released by Silver Style in 2007.
The fourth installement of the classic DOS series 'Simon the Sorcerer' was brought back to life by a small Berlin, Germany based development studio. They are also working on a fifth installment.
AquaNox 2: Revelation - PC Games
Released by Massive Development in 2003.
Based in Mannheim, Germany, studio Massive Development created a futuristic submarine game called 'Archimedean Dynasty'. Shortly afterwards, they were acquired by Austrian-based JoWood, and went on to released two more games in the same submarine theme - AquaNox and AquaNox 2. There was a third AquaNox title that was completed, set for the PS2 release, when JoWood shut down the entire development team for the series.
Lula: Wet Attack! - PC Games
Released by Interactive Strip in 1999.
Interactive Strip is a german-based developer specializing in erotic PC adventure gaming. They released several Lula games in the late 90s, and are now called 'Redfire Software' and release sleezy titles such as 'Airline69', 'Juicy Pussy Club', and 'Bitch Train: Adolf's Pussies 1944'.
Drakensang: The Dark Eye - PC Games
Released by Radon Labs in 2008.
Founded in 1995 in Berlin, Germany, Radon Labs used to be called TerraTools. They are a small team and have just a few titles under they belt, including this one, which is based on a German D&D game.
Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva - PC Games
Released by Attic Entertainment in 1996.
One of the earliest German-based developers, Attic was founded in 1990 in Albstadt, Germany. Their most famous work is a trilogy of early RPG games, 'Realms of Arkania', based on 'The Dark Eye' german-made D&D game. The company is inactive since 2001.
German game developer have really made a mark on the world of gaming. From some of the best First-Person Shooters ever made (Far Cry, Crysis), to the most epic RPGs (Gothic series), to legendary city-building strategy games (The Settlers series), to the best space exploration and combat games (X series), to Age of Sail and Pirates masterpieces (ANNO series, Port Royale series), to helping revive the Adventure genre (Secret Files series, Overclocked, Ankh), and even to the erotic world of Lula, there seems nothing that German developers can't create and master.
This list is to highlight their wide range and great accomplishments for the gaming masses of the world.
