Found-Footage Films: Ranked

This film required two viewings to get under my skin. The first time I reacted the way a lot of people do, finding it really stupid. I now realize the true terror held within this little movie. It isn't TERRIFYING, but it will probably stick with you long after seeing it. I really enjoyed it, and it remains either the best of the found-footage genre, or tied with 'PA'. It's a toss-up sometimes.

A legitimately spooky film for mostly the duration, but 'Paranormal Activity' really thrives in it's last few segments, in which still scare me to this day. Of course, its an acquired taste kind of movie, and not everyone will react as I did.

Its sick and twisted, yes. Its also only for a very miniscule amount of movie-goers. 'Cannibal Holocaust', however, is undoubtedly gripping and ripe full of "I just cannot look away moments'. Those moments are constructed to do what they're supposed to: disturb. And they succeed at doing so. I sort of, in a guilty sense, really like this movie, even though it may not be so hot the second time around. Why? because I might someday come to my senses.

Smarter, a bit more terrifying, and featuring better characters than your average found-footage experience. I've now seen this twice, and can happily say it stands the test of multiple viewings. Another sweet addition is a nice little twist thrown in for good measure, at about the middle point of the film. Recommended for sure, but I can easily see some viewers complaining about certain miniscule things.
