Wong Kar Wai's masterpiece of unexpected love and longing. Two neighbours in a Hong Kong apartment complex discover that their spouses are having an affair... and then proceed to fall in love themselves.

Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Ang Lee's reworking of the Jane Austen novel. Two sisters have very differing opinions on love but neither's love life turns out how they had planned.

Kim Ki Duk's last somewhat conventional romantic movie before he went off the deep end with his film making. The movie is impossible to describe. Interesting fact - there's probably around a dozen dialogues in the whole movie.

Musical about a courtesan and penniless writer who fall in love. of course, there's the evil rich dude who wants the courtesan to himself. The cinematography is stunningly beautiful that it enhances the emotion of every scene.

Patrick Swayze sticks around after being murdered to make sure his girlfriend is still safe and unravel the mystery of his death.

Pretty Woman (1990)
Another movie from 1990 (Ghost being the other) about a businessman and a prostitute. Another modern Cinderella story with predictable results but still very endearing.

Say Anything... (1989)
Cameron Crowe used to make great movies once. Underachiever John Cusack romances the smartest girl in school, Ione Skye. A sweet romance that has more depth than most people realise.

Would you erase someone completely from your mind because it hurt too much to remember them? Even more to the point, will erasing them make any difference at all?

He had me at Hello, I think. Sports agent Tom Cruise loses everything when he decides to follow his heart rather than his pocketbook, except the (future) love of his life.
