I watched this a few times when I was quite young. It was very influential to my imagination.

Whether you come out of this show understanding everything or end up more confused than at the start, this is a very original and captivating show starring the underrated Patrick McGoohan.

The Sharpe's series starred the now famous Sean Bean and his rag tag group of 'chosen men' as they fight Napoleon and the French army. This show has action, good acting, and more action.

Knight Rider (1982)

David Hasselhoff, custom Pontiac Trans-Am, and a slew of crooks and crooked businessman to thwart every episode. I never got tired of this show as a kid, and I wanted that car so bad... actually, I still do. Some things never change.

The really crisp writing of the Seinfeld show kept me watching these extremely despicable yet somehow likeable characters. This is one of those rare shows that never had a bad season.

MacGyver (1985)

MacGyver had me rooting for the guy who hated violence. Surrounded by a movie era in the eighties that glorified horrific Hollywood shootings and killings (and I'm not gonna lie I liked that stuff too) MacGuyver really stood out as a change of pace for your average hero. I can't think of an episode where he ever killed or maimed someone in anger. That's pretty rare amongst most American TV heroes.
Joseph Grey's rating:

Sherlock Holmes is one of the most unusual and beloved of characters, as is Dr. Watson. These two men uncovered the crimes of the wealthy and destitute, of the desperate and the ingenious. I loved this version of Sherlock Holmes, as it was the version that came out during my childhood. I would recommend the Granada series of Sherlock Holmes to anyone that loves the Holmes character.

Perry Mason (1957)

Doesn't this guy ever lose a case? Supposedly, there is an episode when he does, but good luck finding it. Perry Mason was one of the only lawyers I looked up to as a kid. Raymond Burr did an excellent job playing the smart and tough defense attorney that always managed to get the guilty party to confess, right there on the witness stand.

This show is crazy enough to turn a mad man sane. I loved the weirdness of the show, and I still do. Sometimes things don't have to make sense to be enjoyable, and Paul Reuben's Pee-wee persona was pretty cool when I was a kid.

Magnum, P.I. (1980)

I loved this show as a kid. I lived in Hawaii for a few years in the 80's, and somehow watching Magnum running around in familiar territory just made sense to my kid mind. Magnum drove a badass ride, carried a cool gun, and always had a wise crack and a smile for the ladies.

Star Trek (1966)

Does it get any more groundbreaking than Star Trek, the original series? No. No, it doesn't. This show inspired so much of the Sci-fi that came after it, whether people are willing to admit it or not. I loved the show because every episode it seemed the ship, and the lives of all 434 (minus the expendable red shirts) crewman were at stake!

Combat! (1962)

My childhood understanding of WWII came from this show. I know, it's a Hollywood television show. But it helped me to understand the brotherhood and the turmoil faced by the soldiers during the war. Many of those same issues were addressed in the miniseries 'Band of Brothers,' made decades later.

Red Dwarf (1988)

Red Dwarf is my favorite comedy show. I love every season, ever episode, every character in this show. Supposedly, there's a new batch of episodes coming out this year, but I don't get much news in the states, so anyone in GB please let me know what's going on with the new show.

Max Headroom (1987)

Perhaps my favorite cancelled show. Max Headroom had its own feel that is hard to describe. It felt like a show that was in the future, although it was only set '20 minutes in the future.'
Joseph Grey's rating:

Parker Lewis really couldn't lose. Lewis and his buddies had adventures that made all of my school experiences feel like a cheap carnival ride that lasted way too long. I watched this show from its inception to its cancellation, loving every minute of it.
Joseph Grey's rating:

This was a really fun Sci-fi western starring Bruce Campbell. I loved this show, which is probably why it didn't last long.

What the hell is up with TV executives cancelling every show I like? Fuck you TV land, and your fucking poor choices.

This show felt like every episode was going to end in the death of someone you cared about. I watched this show from the beginning, and became furious when it only lasted one season. But that one season was amazing, and I hope to see a show like it someday.

Farscape didn't feel like a sci-fi show, it felt like an epic war drama in space. I loved the treatment of the characters, and the willingness of the writers and directors to allow the characters to grow and change.

This show was more influential to me than the original, because I was able to watch many of the new episodes as they came out on television. There were some really great episodes in this series.
