Aside from featuring the greatest character transformation in the history of cinema, The Godfather contains some of the most memorable scenes and movie quotes ever created. But to be fully appreciated, like many other films it has to be viewed multiple times. For example when you understand just how ingenious the opening wedding-scene is created, then you'll certainly appreciate the rest of the movie a lot more.

My favourite scene is perhaps the one where Michael awaits assistance in the hospital after having found out that his father is left alone and unprotected. The atmosphere created by the long, empty corridors and the echoing footsteps in the stairs is simply phenomenal.

The immensely claustrophobical and scary atmosphere combined with the charming 80's special effect, makes "The Thing" one of the greatest horror films ever made. The blood-test scene alone is psychological terror at its finest.
Morricone's soundtrack is also highly underrated. It was in fact nominated for a Razzie Award, which is probably one of the stupidest happenings in awards history.

Being the third and last part of the trilogy, The Human Condition III takes the visuals to a new level and leaves the other two films in the shadows. The way in which Kobayashi uses lights, shadows and tilted camera-angles, is highly comparable to Kalatozov's works, and it is a truly awe-inspiring experience to watch.
The final scene itself is epic, in every sense of the word, and stands as a hallmark example of why I love movies.

The horrors of war as seen through the eyes of a young boy. "Idi i Smotri" depicts the true reality of war, the reality where no heroes or glory exist and where women and children are slaughtered like animals.

There is a brief scene in which a birds nest is accidentally crushed by a foot, and we witness the grotesque remains of the poor little nestlings.
Of all the cruelty depicted in the film, this is probably the most haunting moment to me. It symbolizes all of the innocence that is being wasted during times of warfare.

The best U-boat film ever made. Claustrophobic terror at its best; you can almost smell the sweat and filth of the bearded and starved men onboard.
On a mission just as meaningless and absurd as the war itself, the german men aboard Das Boot is viewed as sympathetic people who are in fact nothing more than victims of miserable circumstances.
