1941 (1979)
To me this is in the same ballpark as classic spoofs like Airplane and Top Secret, but somehow is now regarded as a failure. I find it funny in many parts

Mad Max (1979)

A very low-budget Aussie exploitation film that doesn't really hold up as well as its sequels with better editing and bigger budgets.

Life of Brian (1979)

Funny, yes, but perhaps the weakest of Monty Python's movies. Still, it has wisely reminded us to always look on the bright side of life.

Nothing too interesting about this Al Pacino starrer. Not until the final courtroom scene does this movie come out of its shell.

All That Jazz (1979)

Director: Bob Fosse
His 4th Movie
My 4th movie watched from the director

There is a lot going on in this movie loosely based on its director. It moves really well yet it's erratic, it's messy yet it's focused, it's self-promoting yet self-maligning, and it's kind of brilliant. "Jaws" may be Scheider's most well-known role, but this is definitely his best performance.

Alien (1979)

A sci-fi movie that turned into a horror... a classic.

A classic that so many movies have mimicked. Forrest Gump being the most successful. I'm assuming Zemeckis had full intentions of naming Gump's maid Louise after the maid, Louise, in the film.

One of the greatest war films of all time. Fuck it, one of the greatest films of all time. Holds up very well. The film is great on its own, but once you know the story behind the experience becomes that much greater.
