Best Anime Movies and TV that I am aware of
UPDATED - 11/11/2014
Came back to add some things to the list (after what, +2 years?), been shifting through a lot of stuff lately and been tapping into some other media to find new series and movies for my own entertainment first and the list second, obviously.
As a commentary of how much things can change in a few years, previously (below) I complained about having a hard time coming across something I hadn't seen before, that's no longer an issue, anime distribution has blown up over the last few years. Shows like toonami and networks like Cartoon Network and Netflix have opened the valve as far as accessibility and exposure and the flood is on. So quantity is no longer an issue. Quality is though.
Standard animation has gotten way good (when studios put some money behind it), very enjoyable from that standpoint. Gone are the days of pointy faces and choppy action scenes (mostly...) but story lines and character development still seems to be a shallow well.
It's tough being an Anime OG, I've grown up but largely the genre hasnโt. This list is chronological to me not by release date, it's an arch of my interest in the genre but also an arch to the genre itself in many ways. The items on this list are things that either have stood the test of time or are current likes based on my current sense of enjoyment or appreciation (whatever that might be).
(PREVIOUSLY)
I'm constantly checking out lists (exactly like the ones found here on Listal) looking for good anime, a personal love since 1994 or there abouts. Surprisingly I rarely come across something that I haven't already seen and if I'm to be frank, most lists have what I consider huge gaping holes. I hope this list can introduce ONE new, worthwhile film or show for anyone who happens to come across it, and hey, If you have something that you think should be on this list let me know, I'd love to hear about it.
