Francis Benhamou was born in Montevideo, Uruguay to a Morrocan father and an Eastern European mother. She grew up in Miami, Florida and graduated from NYU with a B.A. in psychology and a concentration in acting. In 2006 she co-produced and starred in the award winning short Lucia (2006), later landing her parts in Noah Buschel's Neal Cassady (2007) and the mini series The Bronx is Burning (2007). In 2007 she starred in the award winning film Arrranged, playing a religious Muslim school teacher who becomes friends with an Orthodox Jewish girl that teaches in the same public school in Brooklyn.
