Victor Fries was the CEO of a multinational corporation intent on crushing all competitors, including a mom-and-pop cryogenics lab run by Nora. They met anonymously online and fell in love before realizing who each other were. Settling their conflict, they married, but soon Nora fell ill with a rare blood disease that threatened to kill her. With no other option, Nora allowed her husband to cryogenically freeze her to halt the progress of the disease while he set out to discover a cure. Victor's obsession resulted in him resorting to supervillainy to fund his efforts to save his wife, becoming Mister Freeze and joining the Injustice League.
