Grisham's novel seeks to answer the question at the heart of the story: to what lengths will a parent go when his little girl has been raped and judicial justice has failed?
This novel has a blend of heart-wrenching sorrow and ironic humor. Yes, I found myself laughing at some points. It would be a difficult situation to be at the heart of and it's sometimes difficult to read, such as the rape scene in the beginning. Still I think it is a book that is worth reading. Murder is wrong, but can anyone say with certainty that they would do anything less if it had been their own child?
