Ellis masterfully explores a nihilistic teenage wasteland, filled to the brim with cocaine and despair. Through startlingly realistic (and simplistic) imagery, he crafts an unnervingly bleak tale of apathy, channeling the voices of Camus and Salinger.
The unblinkingly casual narrative makes it all the more horrifying.
