James and the Giant Peach Reviews

A fun adventure for kids...I read in one sitting. Poor James is left an orphan and his Aunts find him to be a horrible burden. A mysterious stranger gives him some magic with which to escape his plight, but he drops it next to a peach tree. A peach as big as a house grows, some garden insects are also affected by the magic, and James escapes his horrors by burrowing inside of the peach and finding the insects. The story has many harrowing ups and downs, but finally the peach lands in New York and these immigrants find the shores of America are still hospitable to strangers, where they live out their days as celebrities. A perfect book!!
