Boy this story grabbed me and wouldn't let me put the book down. Mrs Funke really knows how to tell a story. She creates characters that you want to cheer and root for as they go from one adventure to another. I felt like I was a fly on the wall watching the action as I read the book. She has a rare talent to bring a reader into a story. This book is good for readers that love a great tale from ages 10 and up.

The story has a basic good verses evil plot line with a few twists. It follows a girl and her father as they try to get away from a diabolical man that wants to get a book that her father has been protecting for years. The story has a fantasy twist in that all the characters are not from our world. This will make more sense if you read the book. I hope you do! Enjoy.
