Grande prova di scrittore da parte di King, che in questo romanzo riesce a creare la sua storia ambientata in un'unica stanza di una casa. Quando Jessie si reca alla casa sul lago col marito Gerald, neanche lontanamente immagina la situazione in cui si verrà a trovare di lì a pochi istanti.
