"Nominated by the giraffe I got into the Yeah Yeah Yeahs after hearing Fever to Tell at a friend's house. Karen O's sexually-charged vocals captured my attention with their intensity, the guitar work was undeniable, and the drums kept me wanting to get up & move around. Once I saw them live they earned their spot among my favorites, and the majority of their albums & EPs are excellent (not so crazy about their latest, It's Blitz!, but hopefully the next will be better). Favourite Album: Fever T"

"Why not in my top? It's Blitz! was a huge misstep in my opinion. It's grown on me over time, but compared to all the releases that preceded it it doesn't even sound like it came from the same band. Sometimes that's a good thing, but not in their case. Fortunately the version I have came with acoustic versions of 4 of the songs on it, all of which are more enjoyable than the originals."

"Karen O One moment she's singing sweetly, the next she's howling like a banshee. Her vocal delivery calls to mind wild animals (which is probably why The Flaming Lips used her to make animal noises on their album Embryonic) and sexual encounters, and I don't know of any other female vocalists I can say that about.
