About:
Within Temptation is a Dutch metal/rock band founded in 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. Their music is described as symphonic metal, although their earlier material, such as Enter, was gothic metal.
In an interview, Den Adel said they fell into a symphonic rock genre with various influences. In a later interview with 3VOOR12, Sharon stated that "we consider ourselves more a symphonic rock band ... we are in my opinion no gothic band".

After the release of their first album Enter, the band became prominent in the Dutch underground scene. It was not until 2001 that they became known to the general public, with the single "Ice Queen" from the album Mother Earth, which reached #2 on the Dutch charts. Since then, the band won the Conamus Exportprijs four years in a row. Their next album The Silent Force debuted at #1 on the Dutch charts, as did their latest, The Heart of Everything. In 2008, they released a live DVD and CD, Black Symphony, recorded with the Metropole Orchestra. This collection was followed in 2009 with An Acoustic Night at the Theatre.
The band's fifth studio album "The Unforgiving", to be released in March 2011, is released alongside both a comic book series and a series of short films that together encompass a story. The first single, Faster, was released on January 21, and the first short film, Mother Maiden, was released on January 31.
Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band. Their discography consists of five studio albums, three EPs, three live albums and thirteen singles.
Enter is the debut studio album by Dutch symphonic metal/rock band Within Temptation, released by DSFA Records in 1997. The album prominently features lead singer Sharon den Adel's vocals as well as guitarist Robert Westerholt's gruff death metal growls. Lex Vogelaar, founder of Orphanage, supplied the guitar parts for 'Pearls Of Light', as well as producing the album, and Orphanage vocalist George Oosthoek performed some of the growls on 'Deep Within'.
The album's style is very instrumental compared to the band's later works. Many of the songs have longer instrumental sections and fewer lyrics. On several songs Westerholt provides growling (in contrast to later albums on which it is rarely used).
The lyrics focus on darkness, ghosts, wars instead of fantasy, love, and nature on later albums. Enter has been classified as Gothic Doom.
Mother Earth is the second studio album by Dutch symphonic metal/rock band Within Temptation. Originally released on December 4, 2000 in the Netherlands, and August 21, 2001 in other parts of Europe, it quickly became a success in the band's heartland, reaching platinum status in the Netherlands and platinum in Belgium, platinum in Germany in addition to achieving TMF/MTV Awards in both countries. The album reportedly sold 750,000 copies in Europe.
The album was licensed to be released in Germany and neighbouring countries through GUN Records in January 2003 as a special extended edition with four bonus tracks. The same edition reached the UK through Sanctuary Records with a release in September 2004. The album was re-released by Roadrunner Records on September 28, 2007, with bonus live tracks.
On August 5, 2008, "Mother Earth" along with "The Silent Force" was released in the United States on Roadrunner Records.

Only one week after its release, the album reached Gold status in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Finland.
