I'm not sure which anime was my first one but I'm guessing it was this one.
When I was younger I had the lowest standards possible and I literally watched anything.
As for this, I loved the pretty colors. And the pokemons were cute.
However, now, as it is I'm wondering just how moral is it to force cute little creatures to fight, lock them up in small balls(Pikachu had the right idea about not wanting to go in) and just where is all this leading to? It constantly rehashes the old plot, the villains are exactly the kind I do not enjoy and the characters are pretty boring.
And this is why I avoid re-watching stuff I liked when I was younger.

I tend to get really attached to fictional characters which confuses most of my friends. I can't explain it myself but I feel like it's important because, obviously, if you attach you care and if you care the whole watching/reading experience becomes a bit more meaningful even if it's not real.
So, bearing this in mind it's not surprising I had and still have a bunch of anime and not just anime, crushes.
And, it was hard to pick just one but I had to go with my latest fictional love, who is one hell of a butler.

Basically, what one can like about Sebastian is obvious, he is good looking, witty, excellent in combat, never lies and will be there for his master until the very end. It's questionable whether he cares or if it's just because he's bound by a contract which he feels is important to follow to a t but the listed facts remain true.
I was positively captivated by this character when he totally destroyed Ciel's captors and of course, my heart skips a beat whenever he says the famous: "Yes my lord."
There is something about Daisuke Ono's voice that perfectly captures the brilliance of this character and adds so much to his personality.
In conclusion, he is the perfectly proper butler and at the same time an alluring evil demon who you can't help but feel attracted to.

When I was younger I loved it and recently I've seen a few episodes once again.
Obviously, the enjoyment level had dropped but not as low as with Pokemon. I think I could still get pretty into it. Besides, the shame comes from the sheer fact that people actually put Digimon and Pokemon higher than this and whenever someone mentions this one the laughter is by far louder.
I liked the pharaoh when I was a kid because he had a strong presence and knew how to stand up for himself and his friends.
Needless to say, I was easy to impress back then:P
The show as a whole could still be entertaining I think, of course, only if I'm watching it alone since people around me think so badly of it lol.

Ah, this hatred is an old one indeed. I can still remember, the first day I was met with the most annoying, shrill sounding, useless effing tsundere character I had ever seen.

If somebody had given me like, money, for every single time I wished for this character's demise I'd be a billionaire by now. Seriously.

And no, I do not think this useless bag of dirt became anything more than a useless bag of dirt in shippuden because, let's face it, a really old grandma used her as a puppet and it was supposed to be her big screen win? Please, Kishimoto. I'm still angry over the fact that he supposedly does not know how to write female characters so what does he do? He writes them as the most useless, annoying, weak little bitches. How about this, just a suggestion mind you...how about you write them as people?!
He'd probably do that if he even knew how to write anything in the first place.
Rant over.

Ah no, wait, sorry, females aren't people, they aren't human...they're swamp monsters.

Although, in my humble opinion, epic fail was when she decided to leave it all up to Naruto and Sasuke. I mean, why should she get involved in their gay romance anyway? It's not like she loves Sasuke or anything...

They are not exactly a couple in a romantic sense but they are a fighter and a sacrifice. Good enough, right?

Well, I do suppose they'll become a couple when Ritsuka's a bit older. Kissing he can handle, probably, but anything more, and I know who I'm talking to here, is not and will not be happening any time soon!

The reason I picked this couple is because I feel that Soubi had never actually had anyone who did not want to just use him and then leave him. Kyo is a friend, sure, but only that and nothing more. With Ritsuka he shares a deeper bond and, unlike with his master and Seimei, Ritsuka truly cares for him and would never hurt him. Soubi is, understandably, vulnerable since he was a victim of abuse so Ritsuka is exactly what he needs, a caring partner who does not wish him harm.
And I find this beautiful, despite the huge age difference.

Johan Liebert. He is, by himself, the most epic scene ever in an anime. Just to be clear, I do not like this character because people like him piss me off, thinking they can do what they want, destroy whomever they want, preach on and on about what they think is right. No, Tenma is who I was rooting for, but! There is just no denying that every scene with Johan is incredibly emotionally powerful and in one word: epic.

6.When he reveals he's been pretending to be his sister both when he was young to her and older in front of a mirror.
5.When he points at his forehead for his sister to shoot him.
4.When he is walking on the edge of a building in a crazy relaxed manner.
3.When he collapses screaming after viewing a plot important children's book.
2.When he stood on top of some old construction all mighty like and convinced his sister to put a gun to her head.

I haven't seen a particularly memorable sad scene in an anime until I saw Berserk.
Besides the huge ass sword and badass action, this anime banks a lot on emotional character development too and so, my choice for the saddest anime scene goes to the final episode of the anime in which a most painful betrayal happens.

Seeing all the lovable Hawk members killed certainly was sad but the saddest scene for me was, as expected, the very last one.

The scene which has Lucy fighting Mariko. Seriously, Mariko is one of the creepiest little killer girls ever. She has a good start on her own, murdering a few men before getting to Lucy who is just about ready to kick some ass before she realizes Mariko is by far the strongest. For most of the fight she has the upper hand only to lose in the end, in the arms of her father, she blows up into tiny little pieces.

This is the only mecha series I have ever seen and I've only seen it because my friends had this short obsession with it so I had to. I found none of it engaging in the slightest, I could care less about the characters and the only good thing about it was Misato, with her cheerful and strong demeanor despite the shit they were going through. Shinji is so very annoying. Here I thought nobody could top Sakura, or even Sasuke for that matter, in the matters of being a little bitch but I was wrong.
The story is not bad but it encompasses the whole world and I don't like fiction about worldly problems because it takes the focus off the characters and I just really like character driven plot.
Maybe I'm wrong but I did not feel that this was it and it seemed to buried up its own ass most of the time.
Perhaps I should watch Gundam? lol, no.

Nana is a wonderful drama series with one minor complaint from me, and that is that, at times, it can seem sort of soap opera-ish.
Well, despite that, I liked it quite a lot. It's cool to have two completely different people become friends because these two work well off each other, and contrast is something that is always needed, no exception.
The supporting characters do not quite fall as far back in the background as would be expected and we get to know them too a bit, especially if one is familiar with the manga which I also recommend.
The characters are real and relateable.
What enjoy watching is day to day struggles, family issues, mental issues, drugs and music and all that jazz and this one here is full of this and similar topics.
Love it, hope the manga continues.

Ouran High School Host Club

Again, I do not watch harem anime. I tried watching Hakuoki once and I felt like jumping of a bridge out of sheer frustration.
Good thing is that his is a parody of harem anime and a wonderful one at that. All, and I do mean, all of the humor works and characters, parodies or not, are extremely lovable. Something is always happening in every episode, it's dynamic and colorful.
When the mood strikes, the drama works because, by the time it gets to some serious topics you already should be well into "caring mode".
There's all kinds of humor here, slapstick, misunderstanding, pranks and character traits driven humor. All of it is funny, watch it, you won't regret it.

Fruits Basket

Apparently, Kyo from Fruits Basket is a tsundere. I did not catch that. Well, Sakura did make me hate tsunderes and in case of females it usually involves hitting the male characters who did nothing to really deserve being beaten up. I find this trait the most annoying tsundere trait and I do not find it funny. It's stupid and it summons double standards.
Whenever Kyo hit Tohru it was by accident, now, imagine if he had done it on purpose, as strongly as female tsunderes do? Well, I'm sure there would be complaints.
Anyhow, I've chosen Kyo because he is perfect, I was able to avoid a female character and I can write about how much I love him:)

So, Kyo. He is a grumpy, mean old boy but, when the story reveals why he is the way he is you can't help but understand him. He knew of no other way to deal with pain. All he knew was how to be rough and angry. In comparison, since he seems to be a tsundere, Sakura has no real reason to be constantly so pissed off, and they dare say to Naruto that he should take medication, what a riot. Kyo has been through a lot of shit and his impending lock up made him that much more pissed off. Basically, you get this life story, you get the reason why he's a tsundere and you get to fall in love with him. Awesome, yes, yes it is.

One of the warmest Christmas movies in a non cheesy way. I did not see it in winter, rather, it was summer. It brings back the memory of the single most relaxing night I had in a while, when I surprised myself that I still had the energy to care what was on tv and to feel an honest compassion towards something fictional.
It was an otherwise crappy summer so...
Watch it, you'll love it, it's Satoshi Kon and He is God.

There aren't many animes that I prefer over the manga. I had a few other choices but they did not make it onto this spot so I had to settle for an average anime I did not exactly like but I did find it to be better than the manga.
The manga drags on for too long while the anime is faster and more to the point. Manga is still ongoing I think, but I think that what was shown in the anime was more than enough.
It was a cute, short, fantasy drama about shinigamis. Quite enough for about twelve or so episodes.
Apparently, it also gave us one of the most popular villains ever, doctor Muraki.
Meh I say.
He looks like something straight out of a watered out Kaori Yuki manga:P but what do I know...

And to think that so many people eagerly awaited this adaptation. Man, it was like a cold shower on top of being beaten to death. So painful.
The animation sucks, the naughty bits like cocks and such were censured really lamely and the disproportion of the bodies of the two main characters was even more pronounced than in the manga. You start to wonder how that can fit there and such.
Basically, it's Okane Ga Nai if it were dragged through a mud, stomped upon and raped.
Avoid.

However, I thought about it and figured that I would not mind a new episode of Cowboy Bebop every day, forever. As long as it remains as good as it is. On that note, I am so very glad it ended when it did.

Easily this one. I do like Ghibli animation, I don't like some other things but this one was adapted from a book so it was all fine and dandy.
Love Howl, reminds me a bit of myself, love Sophie because she is relateable too. This is one of those peculiar romances which never fail to amuse me despite my distaste for romantic stories.
Peculiar as in Eternal Sunshine for example. It's emotionally very strong and engaging.

This is a cool adaptation. Love the animation, it's all so very colorful and alive and flowing as naturally as if it were live action.
Besides the visuals, I love the idea of being able to visit dreams and dreams spilling out into reality. It makes for some trippy imagery and interesting character reactions. The scene where a bunch of businessmen jump of a building had me hooked so to say. Paprika skipping through the town must already be an instant classic. The soundtrack is wonderful too.
