I didn't really 'get' Charlton Heston and his popularity until I watched Planet of the Apes. I think it's only his receding hairline that I ever had a problem with. His tall stature and tendency to slightly overact are perfect for most of the science fiction roles I've ever seen him in. I want more. Al Pacino is an acting tour de force, and I wish I could return him back to being a 30-year-old man, so I could get another 40 years out of him. I only know him as a patriarchal voice of reason, but he seems like a great screen presence nevertheless. Another exemplary British gentleman with a perma-brood expression. When he's employed in a serious role, I don't ever recall an actor coming off as competent and cool as Coburn. I'm pretty sure he was the same age for his entire life as well. Mifune sounds like anger personified. Every time he speaks it's like someone, somewhere is being scolded by him. An acting powerhouse, he was Kurosawa's workhorse which guarantees a wealth of awesome films under his belt.
