Wu-Tang...The Solo Joints

The Wu-Tang dynasty has given us some truly epic music over the past two decades. Here are some of my favorite (and not so favorite) Wu solo joints that I have heard.
Damn, if I didn't know better, this is not the same Deck that I know. The point man on some of Wu-Tang's finest cuts actually released this garbage. I mean, really, is he is even trying. I sounds like somebody trying to emulate Juvenile, just with a little New York sprinkled on top. Fucking horrible album!
Tical 2000 : Judgement Day

Release Date: November 17, 1998

How much of a disappointment was this album? And before I continue, not it isn't because of all of the goddamn skits (that definitely didn't help though) it is because it just lost the Wu familiarity. Now do not get me mistaken there are a few good tracks on this album, but overall it fails. There was no need to have Janet Jackson, Donald Trump, "the check writer", Chris Rock, etc. on a mutha fuckin' Wu-Tang album!

About two weeks ago I drove around and re-listened to this album trying to figure out why I disliked it so much in 2001. Then it hit me...the featured artists do not come with their best material in hand. Listen to Jamie Sommers' verses and tell me that it doesn't somewhat diminish the quality of the song.

The honorary 10th member of Wu-Tang. Personally, I like this album. Tracks like "Run" and "Milk this Cow" just fit Cappa's unorthodox style of rhyming like a glove. Normally I would recommend Cappadonna to only the hardcore of Wu fans, but this album doesn't stray too far from the formula.

Believe it or not this is probably one of my least liked Wu solo joints. I am not saying that Tical is an utter failure...it's just not that great. Lyrical it is on point, song structures are good and the presentation is almost unmatched. I love the Gothic setting of this album. So still you may ask...why? Sadly I cannot answer that. I just do not like this album as much as I should.
"O% Finance" is one of the most creative tracks that I have heard in awhile. Not may an MC can box with the god MC. GZA is older and still on point with the wordplay as ever. While this album may not be the caliber of Liquid Swords, GZA can still decapitate an MC with the speed of a ninja.

This album was in hiatus it seemed like forever. After singing with Aftermath Entertainment and presumably letting Dr.Dre produce the follow up to a classic, Wu fans (such as myself) screamed foul. Needless to say Reakwon was going to have his hands full trying to silence the naysayers (that OB4CL2 would never see the light of day and topping the crime classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx). As always the strength of the W prevailed, achievement unlocked!
The debut album from "The Chief". What amazing production by the RZA. It just makes this album feel like it was telling you a classic gritty crime saga. Do I really have to comment on this classic? MC's are still studying this album trying to decode the hidden messages hidden from within.
Rza As Bobby Digital in Stereo

Release Date: November 28, 1998

I know that some Wu fans may look at my #1 pick and say, "Bobby Digital really?" Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I love this album because RZA seems almost fearless on this body of work. It's experimental not just for the sake of being experimental, but for further progressing and showing his diversity. RZA really got into this alter ego. I almost believed that I was listening to another artist...alright I am kidding. It doesn't feel forced and that "Look and at my trying new things" attitude.
*cough* Kayne West *cough*
