Great atmosphere, and relies more on suspense, and "creepniness", than lots of violence/gore, like a lot of slashers tend to. In fact I don't even think they spill a single drop of blood in this film, and most of the violence is offscreen, but the good directing, and atmosphere more than make up for it. It goes to show that great effects are cool, but aren't everything. It also has a great soundtrack. I am quite fond of Caprenter's synth scores, and Carpenter's films.

Like most slashers of it's time it was just an attempt to cash in on the slasher craze sparked by it's predecessor. This second installment of the Halloween series relies more on on-screen violence to shock you, and because of this Michael gets a bit more screen time. At least they still had the original mask for this one.

Freddy was always pretty much what I figured the boogey man to be like. I'd say it was the first film to actually get me interested in horror films, and so it's kind of like my first love. This film also has some of my favourite horror movie theme music.
