Based on book by Carl Sagan. Great acting by Jodie Foster, unfortunately too much attention was on her character taking it away from the scientific and philosophical aspects explored in the book, which was to the detriment of the movie.

Based on book by George Orwell. An excellent adaptation shot in the same time frame in 1984 as the novel. Things didn't turn out as badly as Orwell thought they would, at least not by then.
