So many seem to be under the impression this an anarchist film about anti consumerism, when that's only a small part. I read "Fight Club" as "we're all trapped in this ugly world with no purpose", brazenly nihilistic. Tyler Durden and the fight club are just as stupid, meaningless, and unrewarding as a corporate desk job and Ikea furniture

Once again, many of the film's fans idolize Alex, when the whole point is to condemn that sort of thing. I personally find the thematic ignorant, but this has got to be one of the most common cases of "missing the fucking point", so I couldn't not include it

Tom Green has written his own comic ideals, and has used "Freddy Got Fingered" as a vehicle to express them all. I can't say I neccesarily agree with his ideals, but I'd much rather see this deconstruction accepted conventions than, um, accepted conventions
