At last! A zombie film worthy watching after so many years. Danny Boyle clearly homages Romero in this one. Act 1 is Night of the Living Dead, act 2 is Dawn of the Dead and act 3 is Day of the Dead. It owes nothing at all to the greatest classics of the genre.

The homage of a great director to another. Mike Nichols to Ingmar Bergman. Bitter dialogs shot mercilessly like a machine gun, by equally bitter men and women. Four memorable characters played by four great actors. If this film had a less talented director or less talented actors, it would be the drag of the century. Thankfully is not like that at all.

A great remake, almost as good as the original (which is a masterpeice not only inside the genre). The chemistry is perfect between the entire cast, and I caught myself really caring about what was going to happen to Andy - the man cornered in the weapons store.

Clint Eastwood directing really can surprise, releasing one work of art right after another (Mystic River). Difficult to say which is best. Eastwood's acting here is no less. Morgan Freeman and Hillary Swank complete the cast of this incrediblly touching film, with one of the best and most unexpected twists in the end.

Bruno Ganz is brilliant as Adolf Hitler. Such a dangerous part to be played, done so well by one of the greatest German actors. On a side note, it's good to hear Hitler speaking German instead of English, like so many films did. It gives even more authenticity to this already flawless film.

Martin Scorsese's recognition by the Academy came exactly 30 years later than it should've originally came (Taxi Driver is from 1976), but it came to an equally great, equally violent and equally powerful film. In my humble opinion, the number 1 film of the decade, so far.

Can you picture a musical without the surreal burst into singing and magically coreographed dancing, so typical of the genre? No? Then you have to watch Once. Wonderful soundtrack, very well deserving of the Oscar they got. And the chimestry between the main couple is so natural that you don't really feel you're watching a film, but seeing that couple on the streets. Highly recommended.
