This was the first Rated 15 Film I bought on DVD, on my 15th birthday. This was the year I started getting into film. I watched it about a month later and absoultely loved it.
I bought this on New Year's Eve 2007 in London Oxford Street's HMV store, the biggest HMV I have ever been in. As I was just starting out with films, this was the best place for me to be. Anyway, I bought this (Along with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) and lugged them around with me as we celebrated New Year in London. This has been with me on the most packed Underground Station's I have ever been on.
Same as Reservoir Dogs

The night before I went to London, I watched AFI's tTop 100 American Films. This was one of them. I had heard of the film briefly before but was unawre Nicholson was in it until I watched that. Nicholson being my favourite actor, I searched for this in HMV. I think the double disk DVD was the same price as the single disk DVD so I took advantage of that somewhat silly pricing error and grabbed the double disk edition.
Also, this was a bargain and a half. I got it for an easy £12 because it was on sale. Since then, I have seen it in HMV for £6 but I was happy paying £12, even if the films aren't spectacular (well, the first is), they were ones I was largely interested in watching.
I got this DVD for £3 on HMV's sale and is one of the only films I own with the price sticker still intact (most come with plastic wrapping and this one didn't). I am not going to take it off, just so it can stay as a memento of when and I bought this DVD. I would leave the prices on other DVD's but as I said, most are stuck on the plastic wrapping. Also, for a budding film fan, how could I have not bought Shawshank??
Ever since I saw The Shining, I wanted to explore Kubrick's other works. This was the 3rd Kubrick film I watched, after The Shining and A Clockwork Orange (Which funnily enough, I have seen twice but neither times on DVD. Both on TV). I brought this on New Year and watched it as soon as I could when I got home. I don not regret it.
Summer 2007 shaped my love for film. When I was on Holiday abroad, all I could think about was getting back home and ordering Pyscho. I had been intriuged for absoulutely ages. Anyway, I got this DVD boxset with the other substandard sequels because it was cheap and I figured I may as well watch the others. The main reason I hold it so close is because of Hitchcock's classic, however.

Also, the first Black and White DVD I watched (First Black adn White film I saw was The Little Shop of Horrors on TV).
I saw The Shining, accidentally, when it was on Television. I was 12 years old and I sat mesmerised, before I even knew what film it was. (Soon enough I guessed it was The Shining, mostly because I had seen the spoof Simpsons Halloween episode before). I just HAD to get the DVD. When I watched it again, it was with my older sister, who also loved it.
The Oldest Film I have bought on DVD and also the most expensive single film. I got this in HMV in my home City of Southampton for a rather steep £23. However, I wanted to make sure I was getting the best version available (Eureka DVD have never failed me yet, with their fantastic restorations) and I didn't want to order it online (for about £7 cheaper) because I wanted to make sure the DVD I got aws the best.

"Interesting choice for a boy of your age" I remember the man who served me said. I was 14 at the time and I could not wait to see this classic. I wasn't even sure if I would like it because it was the first silent film I was going to see but needless to say, I have not regretted buying it. Especially because it came with a good bonus disk and a fantastic 80 page booklet.
Having seen Pyscho and The Birds in 2007, I wanted to watch more Hitchcock classics. What better place to start than with this fantastic boxset of most of his essential films? I watched most of these within 1 month because Hitchcock appealed to me so much, I could not wait to watch another of his films.
This is more just an anecdote. I was in Southampton HMV and I wanted to see Michael Moore's earliest documentary. I went to buy it (I was 16) but the man serving wanted ID (Yet a friend of mine who was very boyish, with an unbroken voice, got served easily). I left it at the counter. Later in the day, I went backm found it again and went to another counter, where I got served.

ID for what? What was this going to influence me to do? Go out on a mass interviewing spree? If it was a horror film, then I could sort of understand but a documentary? Come on!
On my 15th Birthday, I purchased this along with several others (Including If....) as my DVD collection grew significently within this one day. I had wanted to see White Heat for ages so I bought this for a fair £15. The other films also looked good (The Public Enemy, Angels with Dirty Faces and The Roaring Twenties) and all had good bonus features. This wasn't actually out on the shelves and was about to be repriced as far as I know so I took one from below the shelves. There was no was I was missing out on this price.
When I was 9, I was obsessed with Horror films (and I turned out just fine, so all this nonsense about Kids getting influenced by violent films is balony). I watched the first installment when I was 10, along with my sister (Who was 12). The look on my face when it came to the infamous Blood Geyser scene would have been priceless. Anyway, when I was 11 I shelled out some money for this nifty collection, all in a nice box. Not the ideal boxset for a boy of my age but I knew what I wanted, and I wanted Freddy.
