Red Dwarf ran for 8 series' in the UK, mainly on BBC 2, which is a testament to its popularity as this channel is usually meant for reruns or sub par comedy shows which last about 3-4 years or get moved to BBC 1 then get canned. Other than Dr Who (and its spin off) it is about the only worthwhile sci fi show the BBC has ever made. The comedy is mainly based on topics from the era it was made in, the 80's - 90's and they mainly pop jokes about current affairs that have happened or historical things from the 20th century. (Which is slightly odd since this is meant to be set in the year 3000, but still!)
There are a lot of good Science Fiction stories and it is meant to be a typical ladz program however there are a very large number of female fans too. This comedy is well worth watching as it is original, witty and fun. It had promise of a film being made, but due to the actors aging it is unlikely if one will ever be made, which is a shame. The Americans tried to remake this show over in the states, but it flopped after one episode as while the writing and storyline is great, the actors in the show are what make it truely special.

9/10
