Review of In Rainbows

Superlative effort

There's always a fear when one of your favourite artists is about to release a new album that it wont be as good as their previous work. I must admit that I am a pessimist when it comes to these situations and I was crouching in my Anderson shelter, hard-hat on, braced for the worst when Radiohead release In Rainbows.

How dare I doubt their genius for even a second! The album generated a lot of publicity from the potentially revolutionary way it was released, but that's not the only reason it sold copies, it's just a solid album from start to finish. It's a complete work and that is rare these days. The stand out tracks really do stand out and 'Reckoner' and 'Weird Fishes' still continue to knock me out whenever I listen to them even now after multiple plays. In typical Radiohead style, this album grew on me over time and matured like a fine wine.

Definitely not a disappointment.

8/10
