The Most Disturbing Book Ever Written definitely a unique experience
life through the eyes of serial killer but is he a serial killer? can his narration be trusted ? when does his hallucinations end and reality begins ?
if you can stomach the gut wrenching, over the top murders and rapes
,the misogynist accusations and the racist and homophobic description then you're in for a ride :a true roller coaster .
the way the book subdues you with endless details of Patrick Bateman 's life the fashion, the restaurants, the music, the food it numbs you to a certain degree then out of the blue it chocks you sensless: you get this graphic murder just thrown in there with no preparation, no regard for the reader like a lively routine it will chock you beyond belief and the description doesn't really help either and after a while reading this you really begin to understand how deranged, sick and twisted is Bateman; his lack of emotion, sympathy, concern or even rumors is way more disturbing then anything you've ever seen but yet again he's a psycho
The most astonishing thing about this novel the effect it has just by using words it's definitely the scariest thing I've read or watched
It had more impact then all of the gore/slasher movies combined
and the fact it keeps its mystery:did he actually kill anyone or is it all in his sick mind trying to find any kind of escape from his pretentious and robotic society?I personnaly believe he didn't.The novel keeps you intrigued despite the fact u'll find you're self throwing it away out of horror(and believe me you will) or letting it set for a couple of days till you find the courage to pick it up again it makes it more unique
But in the end I doubt if I'll ever read it again
