The Love Boat Sinks

See the 1959 version ("A Night to Remember"), if you want to see a drama about the Titanic sinking, rather than a run-of-the-mill romance.

That it won the Oscar had all to do with its ability to draw the Harlequin Romance crowd (apparently, repeatedly). A perfect example of an Oscar having nothing to do with a quality film.
