A comment on the Almost Cast list

Winona Ryder was to be in The Godfather Part III (as Mary Corleone), but had to drop out due to illness - Although some say it was because she went on to star in Edward Scissorhands instead.
Johnny Depp:
- was to play the lead (I think he was cast, initially) in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, but then he didn't, not sure why (scheduling conflicts I believe), can't remember.
- turned down the lead in Speed
- turned down the lead in Legends of the Fall [I believe he turned down seeveral roles that went to Brad Pitt]
- turned down the role of Lestat in Interview with the Vampire
- was the first choice to play Neo in The Matrix
- was Coppola's choice to play Jonathan Harker in Dracula (don't know if he turned it down or what)
And ok that's enough Depp.
Heath Ledger was reportedly attached to Australia, but dropped out to play The Joker.
