Honestly, beforehand, I didn't really know what to expect but since it is a classic, I thought I should give it a try. Basically, it is a rather standard Western story about some simple farmers who are bullied by some evil cattle baron and, of course, a mysterious stranger passes by and saves the day. It doesn't sound really original and it is completely predictable but we shouldn't forget that this Western was made 60 years ago and it was made before many other Westerns afterwards using the same template. I thought the directing and acting were pretty solid and I liked the attention they gave to the details. It is also interesting to notice that there is barely any shooting during the whole thing, there is one big fight though. Indeed, the main character is without a gun during the whole thing and I thought it was a nice approach. Instead of making the shootings look cool like most other Westerns, they show here that it is sometimes inevitable but the consequences are usually dreadfull. To conclude, it is and remains a decent Western and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
