Review of The Tree of Life

This movie looks pretty good, but that's it. I mean, the Palm D'or, a Best Picture nomination? Are you shitting me? This movie was bullshit. "Oh, look at this movie I made. You don't understand it? No, you just don't get it." Fuck this movie. The first hour was a jumbled mess of God knows what. The rest of it was just a coming of age story set in the 50's, and the thing is, it's done pretty well. So why couldn't the whole movie just be that? Why do you have to have "the creation of earth" and "dinosaurs". I really liked the coming of age story. The performances were good, it looked nice and it really captured a good picture of childhood. I really wish that the movie could have just been that. Because the rest is just unnecessary, boring, and stupid as Hell. My opinion, if you're going to watch this movie: Skip the first half and skip the scenes with Sean Penn.
