Review of Andrei Rublev

Godlike, basically

All things considered, I don't think you could make the argument of "greatest ever" for a film more than you can for "Andrei Rublev". Now, it's not my favorite film ever (that would be another Tarkovsky masterpiece, "Stalker"), but I've never seen a film that encompassed virtually every hallmark of a masterpiece. I mean, talking about my love for this film would be like reading of a list of cliches and hyperbole; jaw dropping directing, realistic performances, poetic dialogue, scenes that stick with you, loads and loads of ambition our lord and savior Tarkovsky has the talent to match; fuck, what does this film not have!? Well, aside from a sense of humor, but it's Russian, they aren't funny people

"Andrei Rublev" is a film that almost pisses me with just how good it is. Quit showing off, Takovsky, we get it, you're a genius and infinitely more talented than any of us will ever be. Basically, if you have a true appreciation for film, you will love this. If you're a mainstream filmgoer who thinks "The Dark Knight" is one of the greatest films ever, you'd best avoid, it doesn't yield to short attention spans (that's Tarkovsky for you, uncomproming as fuck)
