This is a typical example of a guilty pleasure. Indeed, it is a rather stupid and predictable plot but I still thought it was rather entertaining. I have a really weak spot for Gene Hackman and without him, I would have probably not much enjoyed this movie. It is such a shame that he retired from the movie industry. A part from that, it is a basically 'Major League' with (American) football this time. You have your usual colorful characters leaded by Keanu Reeves who was not bad (if you don't expect much from Mr Reeves, he usually doesn't disappoint you). It gives also some insight on the fact that professional players are payed some ridiculous amount of money but it doesn't get really deep as it is a standard and predictable sport flick. To conclude, it is an average but rather well made and entertaining sport movie, and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
