After making for at least a decade worthless straight-to-dvd action flicks, Jean-Claude Van Damme finally decided to do something drastically different, a satire about himself and it really worked. Basically, it is a remake of 'Dog day afternoon' taking place in Belgium and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The whole thing could have been a misfire if he took himself too seriously but he didn't, even if he remained maybe a little too calm during the proceedings. The main issue, in my opinion, is that the concept was good but after 5 minutes, they didn't really know how to further develop this. Still, it really gets hilarious sometimes and Van Damme provided a pretty good performance (there is even a six minutes monolog which honestly quite blew me away). When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of JCVD and it was quite awesome to finally seen him in a decent movie after all those years of crap. To conclude, even though it is nothing mindblowing, it is a well made and entertaining satire and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to see something different with monsieur Van Damme.
