The Greatest Horror Film Of All-Time.

I am not joking when I say that this is easily the greatest horror film ever created. From the music and the suspense, to the creepy yet amazing villain "Micheal Myers", this film did more than just prove itself, it redefined movie history.

Filmed in just several weeks and with a budget of just over 300,000 dollars, Halloween was the most successful independent film ever made. But the whole process would not have been possible without the help of the amazing John Carpenter, and His inspiration, the amazing Alfred Hitchcock, specifically his film "Psycho". Carpenter's goal was to create a film different from any others, (with the exception of the classic slasher villain related to the film "Psycho"). The title as well. As he was searching for other movies with a similar title, he realized that there had never been a film called "Halloween" nor had there ever even been a film with the word incorporated into it. He and his crew were surprised, and at the same time very excited.

The film was first based on babysitter murders. He thought it would be a clever and unique idea to have a film about a few babysitters being stalked by a murderous villain. Though the whole stalker idea came up later, along with the famous Micheal mask, which is my favorite mask out of all the horror characters. Ever wonder where the mask originated from? The mask was originally made for William Shatner's 1960 character "Captain Kirk". They just redid the facial features and the hair so that it would look a little better to suite a creepy killer. I just recently figured that out.

John Carpenter was not the only genius mind behind Halloween. Also helping out was Debra Hill who was in charge of the amazing screenplay. Since Hill was also the script supervisor for John Carpenter's 1976 film "Assault On Precinct 13" this worked out perfectly. Debra Hill did an amazing job writing the screenplay.

I know I have already mentioned this, but "Halloween" is the best horror film ever made. If you have not watched it, then please do, and you will agree with me. Micheal Myers continues to be, and always will be my favorite horror villain ever.

It'd also be worth mentioning that Carpenter was staging a homage to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Carpenter even placed Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead role. Jamie's mother is Janet Leigh, who was the victim in Psycho.
I've basically written an essay about this in my Psycho review if you're interested.

I forgot about the "Psycho" relevance. I knew about it but forgot to mention it in my review. I will read your review on it.

I completely agree with your review. "Halloween" is both my favorite and the most frightening horror film ever conceived. Michael Myers is also one of the greatest slasher villains brought to fruition. This movie is undeniable.
