Since I kept hearing some pretty good things about this movie, I was really eager to check it out. On top of that, since it was Alexandre Aja's breakthrough directing effort, it was definitely interesting. Well, eventually, I wasn't disappointed and this movie was easily Aja's best movie so far. Indeed, even though the story was nothing amazing, it was entertaining enough, the directing was really effective and Philippe Nahon was a solid bad guy. Above all, I was really impressed by Cécile de France. Indeed, she carried the whole thing on her shoulders and she was just quite spellbinding to behold. Basically, it shows that a horror movie works so much better with some strong performances delivered by some skilled actors. Concerning the twist at the end, I understand that the makers made this choice otherwise the whole thing would have been just too straightforward but, even if it didn't really bother me, I didn't care much for it. Indeed, because of this, it means that at least half of the movie never actually happened which is usually not really rewarding and I won't mention all the plot-holes that it implied. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, it was still a solid horror flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
